Greenlizard0 PL & Championship Football Thread ** spoilers ** [1st - 3rd January 2022]

Arsenal did play out of their skins today and probably deserved to win but even when City are far from their best you can't get a man sent off, give away a penalty and miss great chances and hope to beat them.
yea of course.

Not saying none of it was not our fault, arsenal made some silly decisons,

Xhaka for one....

City did not look like scoring unless it was a pen or a lucky goal.

They barely tested our GK

listen liverpool fan, u should be backing arsenal to have won today!!!

City have basically wrapped up the title with this win

Ah well, theres always the battle at the top of the Championship table to provide some excitement between now and the end of the season as the Premier League title is over and done with

the penalty decision wasnt a pen

ref goes to look on monitor and they dont even show the angle where he was already heading for the deck before any sort of contact

It was a pen but regardless just because he didn't give it instantly doesn't mean he wouldn't have given it without VAR. Right now it's in their mind that they don't need to make an instant call, pre VAR there's a good chance he would have given that anyway.

Arsenal played really well, better than City in fact but threw it away when Gabriel got himself sent off with the 2 yellow cards and the open goal miss in between.

You can analyse the inconsistency of VAR but the crucial thing for me is the red card, the self inflicted red card which basically gave the last 30min of the game to City, at the point when the game is 1-1 and still playing better than City. That red card caused the switch to be more defensive to hold on which they almost did but ultimately didn't.

the refereeing is a joke though he couldnt ref a game of rock/paper scissors

He wasn't heading down before Xhakas leg made contact. People seem to obsessed that it was the shirt pull that was given not the leg that Xhaka stuck out. The shirt pull was indeed when he was already on the way down but the initial contact was the main reason it was a penalty.
