With AM5 + Zen 4 coming in H2 2022, is anyone still planning to build an Alder Lake system?

It's coming a few months earlier than I thought, always worth waiting for these announcements...

Gotta factor in that AM5 is probably gonna offer some upgradability too...

For AMD users it is cheaper to buy just new 3d cache cpu and integrate it into existing motherboard, for new buyers i would recommend wait Zen 4 or RPL, ADL is beta testing of new hybrid design and ddr5, and when Zen 4 and RPL releases DDR5 will be cheaper so it would be better to buy ddr5 platform for future proof,

Yeah, it’s a good drop in upgrade for a lot of people.

Assuming it doesn't cost more than a 12700k + board. ;)
No matter what price they put it can't cost more than Intel cpu + even future cheaper motherboards, and many AM4 users have x400 and b550 boards that are cheaper from the first day so in the end for existing AMD users it will be better to just buy 5800x 3d if they want 10-15% increase instead of ADL, or even better wait for Zen 4 and RPL.

Not too concerned with motherboard pricing, the 12400 should be a good saving on the 12600k I was initially going to buy.

Yeah it's looking like it should land at £185(ish) as Intel are at $192 as the MSRP (OEM tray version), vs the 11400's $182 (Boxed retail version), which sells for £175. So total system cost of ~£400 with a PCI-E 5.0 (B660) board and 16GB of decent DDR4.

The 12700T looks promising. It’s probably going to be expensive and at 35watt largely ignored, but yeah promising chip.

Same $339 at the 12700(non-K) and $70 cheaper than the K chips. I use shed loads of Intel T-series parts and have done for years, they are great, but AMD has caught up fast with their monolithic APU's, and the new 6xxx parts should be immense once the HE parts are out.
