Well I have most of my parts, but need a motherboard and memory bundle (32 gig)

I am struggling to pick one, any advise welcome. I have a hero 9 in my current 6700k build,

I would like to get a stable overclock and then leave it be.

Budget wise memory and motherboard for around £500

MSI Pro Z690-A is solid and comes in at the lower end price-wise. I would only spend more if you really want a certain look or some of the onboard features, such as better sound.

For the memory, I would aim for a 3600mhz CL16 kit. Unfortunately, OCUK are out of stock atm on many of the ones below £200.

With £500 budget I'd rather go with Tomahawk or tuf gaming, or even stretch to the edge. They has more powerful VRM's and runs cooler than the Pro Z690-A. I guess more of a factor is using a 12900 where diff between the 2 boards is 14 degrees, but then 12700 diff is 5degrees at stock for Tomahawk,8 degrees for Tuf gaming, which will only increase if you're overclocking. Seen tomahawk for £245, tuf was same 2 days ago, but only seen £255 yesterday). The msi edge is next step up from tomahawk, bit of rgb thrown in, and vrm's go from 16+2 70A to 75A i believe, but haven't seen any price below the £289, so most expensive.

at the end of the day though, from what I've read, there aren't that many bad z690 boards, so get the one you like the look of with the connections you need, then just double check a review..and shop around

Thanks Craig, I really appreciate you taking the time to share this. I will take a look at these boards now

That memory is okay but you can get a CL16 timing set for around the same price.

The Arctic Liquid Freezer II is pretty much the best-reviewed AIO at a sensible price.
