I've just swapped out a GTX 1060 for a RTX 3070 FE in my son's PC, it's worked fine for a few days, but has started repeatedly crashing in the last 48hrs with a LiveKernelEvent 141 error, the spec is as follows :-

RTX3070 FE
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Noctua NH-U12S SE-AM4 CPU Cooler
Gigabyte GA-AB350-GAMING 3
Corsair Vengeance 16GB 3200Mhz
Samsung 970 Evo Plus 500 GB
2tb Samsung mechanical HDD
Corsair RM750i
Gamemax F15M case

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, but haven't tried anything else so far, any ideas please?

@broona

1-Update the motherboards bios to latest version.

2-Install latest chipset drivers for your motherboard from the AMD chipset site.

3-DDU the drivers and reinstall.

4- Make sure windows is up to date too on the updates and any new version of windows that may have popped up, not windows 11 but windows 10 different versions that have come out.

Hopefully should be fine then.

Thank you, I did number 1 a few days ago, and number 3 yesterday, I'll update everything else today.

Think I might have fixed it, sitting running some benchmarks now.

It appears that the stupid 8 to 12 pin connector had come loose on the PSU end, I started taking the card out and the connection came away in my hand...

Can anyone recommend an aftermarket adaptor that might be more sturdy? Thank you.

Hi if it loose and not going to be seen through a case window then a wee bit electrical tape might help. Once case is closed it only has to be firm enough so that if you lift case it not come out.

Hi you need to try and remove any nvidia files left behind after uninstall of driver to confirm they are not corrupting driver. You could redownload the driver and try to reinstall it. If you wipe all nvidia stuff off and still get errors then I would look at testing GPU.

Hi Apologies I been away from this site a bit and I not sure how to reply properly on phone. If the adaptor is loose cant you just put some electrical tape to hold it, it only needs to hold enough so if you lift the case it not come out. Plus if it does crash again you will be in two minds wether cable came loose again or is another problem if you dont secure it. Or you maybe did not plug it in properly in first place happens sometimes.

My PSU had 2 6/8 pin connectors attached, so I've connected the adaptor to the other one, and it's a much better fit.

I've ran Furmark a few times, every variation of Superposition benchmark, and my son's been playing games for the last 2hrs without a flicker, so hopefully that's it fixed now, thanks again for the replies.

And yes, what's the point in another different connector that needs another adaptor?
