Kef were my first entry into proper audio... I picked up some iQ7s as a student with Cambridge Audio amplification... loved it... kept for years til I upgraded living room to Q900s and office to the first gen LS50.

When I started making proper money... I went B&W and haven't looked back... it's the only logical next step.

Only 1 or two things I think might exceed this & it's horns... I'd love to play with an Avantegarde (sp?) setup at some point in the future.

My 801d4s arrived last week & I'm loving the step-up from the 800d3... barely run in & already notice the improvements. Got the 805d4 and smaller McIntosh for my office too.

Audio nirvana...

(yeah yeah yeah... I still have work to do to finish the setup... cable hiding... power cleaner is on test, hence not behind the unit... new house is still a work in progress).

Mic drop.

It might be my young age, but my experience of B&W is not good... the treble is far too hot and boosted on them, and it just doesn't sound right. Maybe I'd come to love in in the coming decades?

Nice setup, but I have a strong aversion to bare feet in photos

My toes prettier than your toes... :p

@ThatsWhatSheSaid very nice setup dude! I like how you've integrated the sound panels.

Thank you :)

I really like how your wooden speaker stand construction contrasts and balances against the lines of your floor.

For the price of those speakers you can get an entire bespoke audio installation done in your home which will be a tailored soundstage to reverb correctly off every single surface. £30k. Mental lol.

What makes you think I'm finished yet? Corner bass traps and flat panel reflection points were the easy first stage... and btw... the 801d4 are priced above the 800d3 ;)

Post-covid deployment time frames... you have any idea how long it can take to build your ideal plan? It took nearly 3 months for these speakers to arrive, despite being an early adopter.

I don't even have curtains yet because of it... 2 months after moving in... roof diffusing panels you can see off to the right of my picture that haven't been mounted yet... right separating wall before staircase panel is waiting on customs clearance for the last 2 weeks to build my preferred and woman-approved artsy fartsy wall panel to manage a preferred sound environment.

You girls wish you had a supermodel fiancee who'll negotiate a middle ground between ideal listening environment and aesthetics... I think I did well enough... although the ****** told me this evening to turn it down a few % for the next 3 days until she finalises her doctorate... I still fought my corner...

I doubt most on this forum will truly appreciate the audible beauty of your setup beyond the physical deployment.

You found a personalised audio room project specific to your preference.

I see what you did there...

Yeah, that makes my B&W nautilus 805's (nautili?) look quite pauper :( :p

Nice toes xx
You have the nautilus?

Maybe you're taking the ****... but no... they're epic... anything since has only been an evolution... d4 and even d3 are only evolutionary, they don't re-invent the wheel... they just take what started it and build refinement... anything from nautilus/d3 project or even d1 is amazing... only d2 stage had this weird complication that just didn't add up

Check amplification. My first sample of 800d3 was with Devialet... I hated it, too clinical and harsh for my tastes... but some like it.

Personally... McIntosh & 800d3/801d4 or 805d3/805d4 are combinations I haven't bettered.

I saw this last week in what is 'one' of the equivalents of Currys that we have here in NZ (We have about 4 different chain stores like Currys here in NZ). Anyway, I digress.....

So I saw this last week in a clearance centre for Noel Leeming here in NZ, and at the time, I thought nothing of it, it was only when I saw a post on facebook about someone selling theirs, and they wanted about $1800 for it second hand, that was when I thought, hang on, I saw one of these for sale last week for about $1500, it turns out it was 1599 as seen in pic. So, I went to take a look this morning, the box was a bit tatty but the drone was still new. I was never going to pay full asking price for it, so I made them a cheeky offer of $1100, based on the box being tatty, not expecting them to say yes, well, the sales woman went to her manager and asked, and said yes. I guess I couldn't say no! :D

As nice as those speakers are, for me it's all about NAD and KEF sound :D

Granted this is for my computer audio only but I'm a huge fan of the NAD sound that KEF speakers seem to really gel with. Speakers and amps either pair really well or don't, and it's taken a long time to find the sweet spot between two brands and this is my jam for as long as they exist. If I ever update the living room then it will be a similar affair, NAD Master series and KEF floorstanders. Nowhere near 30k expensive lol but impressive sound and quality which is all I want

Just got some as well. 1.8kg for £16.56.

Eat them sparingly, one of my tins is... on the way out!

OCUK discount? since you're avoiding any bans on self promotion :p

Good idea on a website though. Does she get much interest through there?

We have a family friend who retired from making jewellery and now does pottery. He said recently that his stock is building up massively because of the lack of craft fairs on these days due to Covid. He has a website, but doesn't look like he sells through it, just uses it as a personal catalogue of pictures.

Don't know what you mean :D I'll get a telling off if I start offering discounts so no can do I'm afraid!

She's started selling through her own site as Etsy take a good chunk of any earnings, whereas it's very little through the site. She has an instagram where she is trying to do most of her promotion, along with starting at craft fairs and with local independents.

I've seen some craft fairs opening back up so hopefully your friend can get back to selling!

I would. Those kits are really poor quality and the soldering guns are a waste of time.

Be worth a read of this discussion https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/soldering-iron-vs-station.18944782/

Thanks for that, returned it this afternoon.

With the final bits done, the tiny screen is installed.

I had a poke around AIDA and NZXT CAM but didn't like how any of them fit portrait mode so going to good ol' rainmeter which also doesn't have anything out of the box with what I want so learning to rewrite someone elses to eventually fill the screen.

Shiny buttons are display on/off toggle and increase/decrease brightness. There was another button to solder to but couldn't figure out what it does so didnt bother.

Thanks guys, her shop is: https://ionalhgreen.co.uk/shop

A few bits have gone from there but plenty left! I realised that the picture I posted is actually one that's still available, it was another I bought

Want to buy the blue wavy bowl - happy to have it sent to my parents but they're away at the moment. Can I buy it and delay the postage of it for a couple of weeks?
