The unspoken thing this generation regardless of MSRP, Nvidia has often been 1 tier above in pricing. So while they say the 3050 is a 6500xt competitor, it's priced like a 6600. At the time I got it, my 6900xt was cheaper than a 3080 would have been on ebay.

?

The only reason the 6500XT isnt selling for above RRP/sold out everywhere is because it is pony.

If the 6500XT had an RRP of ~£200 but was more like 3050 performance, it too would be out of stock everywhere or selling for over £300.

Due to the market pricing being taken out of the hands of corperations, the cards costs have adjusted in accordance with their value. That's why NVidia pricing is one tier above AMD's.

Some reviewers told their audience to buy the RTX 3050 at up to $450.

Why did they do that when the RX 6600 is in stock at that price at retailers? its 30% faster than the 3050.

What sort of an effect does Nvidia's marketing have for apparently reputable tech journalists like HUB to do that and completely ignore the RX 6600?

Just looked on newegg, cheapest RX 6600 there is $599, $659.99 on bestbuy, $589 on amazon.. I presume they are going by USD and not AUD by the figures they're giving.

Which reviewers and markets? Hub is in Australia, not UK and most reviewers are in the US

nvidia performance is also 1 tier above amd hence why the rtx 3050 will be competing with the 7500xt

I think you miss my point; thanks to pricing, the 3050 is now competeing against the 6600 , which smashes it about, and in many cases against the 6600XT which at times is 100% faster.

£240 isn't too bad for a 3050, granted only a few got it at that price but even at £270 it was decent.

No those were etailer prices. AIB supported under £300 prices will not return.

these cards probably cost 20 quid to make but manufacturers scalping big time now since they know they can make the big bucks from people doing the easyrider shuffle.
3050 is 150 quid card at best. hopefully in 5 years times things settle or igpu reaches 3050 level of performance and then its gonna be good.

The die alone, before you add the VRam, PCB, its components, cooler, fans, shipping.... in around $30, on top of that the supply chain takes its cut before the retailer also takes its cut.
