Hi,

Was wondering which board has the latest tech/features from these two boards if money was not an issue, which board would you go with? and why?

Gigabyte X570 Extreme or Asus X570 Dark Hero

What are the differences?

I'm thinking theres not much in price difference so, would rather buy the better one with the latest and better features, I wont be overclocking or water cooling......

If you’re not over clocking or water cooling those boards are overkill. Just get a X570 Tomahawk Max.

I went for the dark hero purely for the Dynamic OC feature.

It was the first motherboard to have it, and it allows you to have the best of both worlds with all core overclock and PBO2.

Can you expand on that feature sounds interesting.

With most AM4 motherboards you are only able to choose an all core overclock, so traditional overclock e.g set all cores to 4.6ghz or choose traditional boost. If you choose to all core overclock at say 4.6ghz your individual cores will not boost higher than that so you lose out on performance in single threaded apps.

Often with Ryzen you need to compromise when tweaking, so either go for maximum boost or maximise multi core.

With the dynamic oc feature you can have the best of both worlds as you can overclock both separately and the motherboard switches between overclocks when it detects certain loads e.g single threaded applications and multi threaded loads.

I dont like the chipset fans, I like the look of the asus boards....... what other boards are there for sale with ARGB/RGB and no chipset fan......

Same, Tomahawk owner here, the fan never turns on. It probably will if you have the m.2 slot linked to it filled and hammering it with large file transfers.

If you want the latest tech / features then Z690 offers that, X570 is nearly 3 years old now and AM4 is soon to be replaced with AM5 so personally I wouldn't invest into the platform now especially not with an expensive board.

Neither - B550 D - P is the best AMD motherboard by far. That being said, Jox is correct in saying go Intel if you are building a new rig.
