Excuse my stupidity - door closing device

Hi,

Sorry I don't know the specific word or device needed to ensure these doors remain closed from my side not the other side.

These doors are part of the eaves in my kids loft conversion. During the recent windy weather they are blowing out all the time. So I just want a simple latch that I can screw in to stop them blowing out. I thought about a bathroom door type slider lock but then thought they would still blow out a little in the middle. So maybe something that would go in to the frame work from each door top?

Any ideas how to quickly, easily and cheaply get these doors to stay shut?

You can use two latches. Fix one on the back of one of the doors which bolts up into the frame above. This will secure the first door. The second latch can then be used on the second door to secure it to the first door.

If you want a nicer finish, you can use sliding latch bolts like this which fit into the door, and then use something like this to lock the other one.

It does mean you have to unlock both doors separately to open both, which may get annoying!

If its only an issue in the windy weather could you not just slip something between the two handles as a temporary measure?

Or use a double roller catch instead of the magnetic catches, maybe top and bottom, which would be more secure?

I reckon a tywrap would solve it, can't get much cheaper/labour easy than that:cry:.
