Let them have it?

That would be a big surprise at this point, the conditions must be ridiculous.
Yeah, it is. But as you'd expect from Germany, the Bureaucracy must be followed.
No wonder all their plans were leaking out to Western Intelligence, he's openly berating his spy chief in this meeting... there have gotta be a fair few insiders who think he's nuts and want to undermine him:
It will get stuck in paperwork for an eternity
I really really really hope we do this, I still hate Boris, but he gets this through I will hate him much less as a terrible leader for finally do the right thing at the right time

Incidentally, the SVR generally hasn't been impressed with other Putin actions... the Salisbury poisonings for example where UK police/intelligence managed to find the perpetrators, name them and publish their photos around the world was carried out by GRU (military intelligence) and the SVR were not too happy about it/considered it a bit embarrasing.
Lower down the food chain there was some footage of a Russian soldier being berated by a Ukrainian woman in the street posted on twitter and his response was basically along the lines of "just following orders".
What is the logic behind perhaps not cutting them off from SWIFT? Surely everyone should be in agreement that it should be cut off without delay.

it was not his original idea - equally reducing trade/money raising in the UK - how much is all that UK trade actually worth.I really really really hope we do this, I still hate Boris, but he gets this through

Don't think anything was leaked, in this age you can't hide a massing of such force that he has gathered on a border of a nation where you annexed land, I think the West probably snooped some info from loose lips via cell phones though to get the intel to know orders had been given, we were literally tracking the invasion force via google maps traffic data when it kicked off lol
SWIFT go byebye, Gas go byebye for Germany, Germany don't want to pay the cost of freedom
Blowback. Not an expert but as I understand if Russia is cut off from swift then gas imports become impossible and you cannot replace such huge volume of energy imports in a day, so cutting Russia from SWIFT is not feasible for countries like Germany.
Seeing at least 3 USAF air refuelling tankers up near the border of Ukraine. Not sure if they’re providing support to the Ukraine airforce or if there’s other USAF jets in that region.
