Biden says USA sanction that prevents usage of foreign currencies such as USD GPB EUR is more severe than SWIFT ban. So whomever was asking for SWIFT ban, apparently a harsher action was taken

Seems reasonable since they are now currency limited which will hamper what they can use swift for.

Think US would have cut them from swift but havent due to opposition from Europe. Maybe later on after impact of such an action on Europe is minimised will they pull that trigger.

To be fair that second tweet is from a legit news organisation so maybe they have been able to take it back... in which case it's a bit of egg on face for Russia, quite plausible too given it was isolated, lightly armed infantry holding it.

Not sure what happened to those additional planes seemingly sending reinforcements but if Russia has failed to grab the airport then that's good for today at least.

Also, most of the Russian forces seemingly can't seem to fight/maneuver well at night, would be useful, now the Ukrainian military is up and fighting, for some sporadic anti-armour ambushes.

Maybe there was a Ukrainian army detachment there for security so you couldn’t bypass it without leaving an enemy at your back.

If your target is the main city and taking out the government there, you head there as fast as possible.

Leave following troops to clear up pockets of defence behind.

Those small pockets will fall and possibly give up, if main city and government has fallen.

Talking to the Mrs today, it appears an interesting tax change happened recently. It appears the taxation changes will hit existing 'golden passport' holders (ie the Russian olligarchs) when they come to renew their passports (like they'll decide to). Now, once the passport is renewed then the individual is now domiciled in the UK, and so ALL the income outside of the UK is now subject to UK tax.. so all the oligarch assets abroad become UK taxable..

Do you really think our asset management accountancy companies have not already got plans to help them keep their cash? This type of package is a major earner for them and they do not bother as long as they get paid.

Whilst I agree... I'd like to offer the comment about what could potentially occur if yet another series of economic crises hits NATO members such that their populaces lose support for measures against Russia or even become belligerent against their government, that would be a strategic mistake and I can understand if at the moment they want to hold off on the more drastic stuff which they will need to grow public support for before committing.
