Russian tactics seem weird so far
Problem is we're not really getting information on their tactics, we're getting third hand (at best) reports about what the Ukrainians say they're doing. This is the problem with "alt news" sources.

In example, we know that a bunch of Russian special forces took an airfield, then there was a battle, a massive explosion, and they ran away. Ukrainian sources say they took back the airfield and now Russia can't fly in troops/etc. But do we even know if they wanted too? They had time to start brining in planes if that was their goal, maybe their orders were to blow up the runways (the massive explosion) to prevent the west flying in help, and then escape (in which case 100% success).

I hope the Ukrainian story is true, but a lot of the news/facts being paraded ATM is just hearsay.

I wouldn't exactly call 1600+ across multiple cities large, London saw over 750,000 people march against the illegal invasion of Iraq. Our elected government didn't care about that, I doubt a dictatorship will care about a couple thousand.

Probably cause they fear their own government.

Russian Army is 1.5 million soldiers.

With 100,000 in Ukraine, plenty left protecting rest of Russia.
My Ukrainian friend told me last week that they have "200,000 active soldiers plus 200,000 reserves", so now he thinks the fighting will be more severe and if territory is lost it would be followed by guerrilla warfare.

That still doesn't compare to the military might that Russia have to hand, it just means unless surrender comes sooner rather than later that the death rate is going to be high and the war might not be as quick as say the first gulf war which was over in just over a month.

Russia does not want this to go into the cities. I think he wanted to get into the government building and broadcast they have taken over and won (somewhat naive). He probably expected to be there by now. I think the resistance is more than expected. They are probably going to be switching to back up plans so I hope Ukraine are ready.

Yeah I have to agree; I don't think even Putin wants scenes like we saw in Chechnya being repeated on 24 hour news channels
