There were multiple sources confirming a full invasion was taking place, even the US President had announced it.

You might want to read the second line of that post - it puts the first line in a bit of a different perspective to how you are reading it.

Apparently Russia tried to take out most of the Ukrainian air force with precision strikes but hit a lot of inoperable aircraft that had been left out as decoys, hence why they still had enough to stop the heli's headed to the airfield near Kiev. Nice one Ukraine :D

I do find it interesting that the precision strikes lasted a very minimal amount of time, why hasn't Russia run a campaign of several days / weeks worth before rolling in?

Same with the ammo dumps, etc. looks like they only hit one which was still stocked to any level - the rest were pretty small secondary detonations compared to a normally stocked facility.

It is a good question - normally strikes like that would be followed up by large scale cruise missile and artillery then moving in quickly to capitalise on it - not giving the defenders time to reconfigure to offset losses and reposition.

How reliable is that? I mean if that's repeated they won't have much left by the end of the weekend.

Apparently they have over 12,000 tanks and over 30,000 armored vehicles...

They seem to have a lot more than anyone else, although there's no saying how old or in what state of repair they are.

The world wants Ukraine to survive this. The powers that be need to show support with men on the ground! A warning to puty boy not to move any further!

Watching Question Time and they are talking about our armed forces not being strong enough compared to Russia.

Why do people keep talking about this? It doesn’t matter if we have 10,000 more tanks, a major conflict with Russia means nuclear weapons, tanks are irrelevant at that point.

We could scrap a lot of our military hardware and just keep Trident - we’d not be much worse off.

Can someone tell BBC NEWS and SKY NEWS to stop repeating the same old drivle from this morning... I've seen the same bomb hitting the airport for the last 23 hours :p

I wonder if it's fair game for Ukraine to store their planes in NATO territory and use that for take offs and refueling. It's only going to be so long until the runways in Ukraine are pummelled and inoperable.

It’s possible that is already happening.

Unless Russia goes to a full war time footing they can't push anything like those numbers at Ukraine and even then they have other considerations not just Ukraine i.e. not leaving their other borders weak.

They might have but not on the Ukraine border?

Probably not, but my point was they have a lot in reserve to replace those destroyed.

Saying that I hope a combination of sanctions and damage to their forces makes them retreat without further involvement/damage.
