Putin will back down now.

Oh god, mutual assured destruction has begun. May god have mercy on our souls.

Ukraine has been reporting its losses every few hours. Civilians and military.
Well yes, but are they actually accurate? Can't imagine we'll know for sure for quite some time.
Ukraine is huge, taking the capital will not win the war, not by a long shot.

Even if they do 'take' the country their will be an insurgency much like in Chechnya, and we all know how that went for Russia.
I quite agree that that seems likely if they do end up occupying the whole country. But I was thinking in terms of the immediate conflict between regular armed forces - will there be an effective counterattack / trap of some kind from Ukrainian forces (which some people seem to be suggesting there will be), or os that just wishful thinking? Seems like there's not really enough info to tell at this point.

Not really, I like my western life where I can go where I want, not having to bribe an official everytime I cross a street corner thanks.
I also like my western life (i'm not even anti war) but I hate the hypocrisy. We are outraged that Russia are going to turn Ukraine into a puppet state like the west doesn't do such a thing.

Everyone is talking about how some football game is being moved to paris. Remind me again where the 2022 world cup is being held?

People want the F1 not to happen in Russia but China would be on the calender if it wasn't for the pandemic.

Don't even get me started on the people being upset about the sponsors.

The only mistake russia made was invading a country to close to home. Had this country been somewhere else in the world, nobody would care. China is taking notes. Do lots of evil, just not in Europe.

Woke up today and this is still going on. Thought russia would have this won by now. If they are struggling against Ukraine alone no wonder they dont want them to be nato ally, russia go no chance against nato. If this is the full extent of russias army then nato should just jump in and wipe them out then go straight to the Kremlin and take Putin out.

I guess it's difficult to judge from twitter videos, but it does seem fairly disorganised/not very well planned.

I think people fear that of how easy it was to take Ukraine what's stopping him taking on romania ect.. the west wont do anything with the fear of WW3 and china backing.

It's only been easy because Ukraine don't have much of an airforce or enough armour.

Russia's airforce would get totally annihilated by NATO's

Alas this war is a Marathon, not a sprint. Look at how “easy” it was to take over Iraq and Afghanistan and then look what happened next. I suspect that is what Ukraine is banking on and planned for. Something like this, perhaps? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Briti...Second_World_War#Deception_and_disinformation

The difference being I don't think Ukrainians will start blowing up each others places of worship.

A guerrilla style war is very hard to counter though so I get what youre saying.

You'll have to be a little more specific than that.
Any country not in europe or North America. South america might be a bit iffy though.

IMO the only reason this has so much attention is due to proximity (Edit: and because we are getting a play by play of how things are panning out like some sort of sport on TV). People feel uncomfortable and unsafe with war on their door step. They don't actually care about the people.

Problem is a lot of the info coming out is unsubstantiated, as you say there's not enough concrete anything to tell at this point, I'd be surprised however if the Russians steam rollered all over the regular Ukraine troops that easily, I suppose time will tell the real story.
