This made me laugh:

"Impressive too how Putin managed to alienate China by recognizing a regional right to declare independence, prove to Saudi Arabia that Russian military tech isn't worth buying, and make a compelling case to Sweden and Finland for why they should join NATO."

Russia have a massive war chest available, a very good article in the guardian about it. They are good to go for another 12 months or from a civil infrastructure point of view. How the populace is going to take their nice disappearing things is a different matter.

From the sounds of it they'll have to accept it or they'll disappear too :(

I still can't see the end game for Putin in this, he won't go down without a fight, actually concerning that it's obvious his mind is lost yet those under him are still obeying his orders

Doubt Putin will want to have another one of those personal meetups with his oligarchs with him having demolished his entire destabilisation policy of Europe in just a few days.

Surely that has to be a mis-translation. SS-21 could never take out a plane. The clue is in the name - SS as in Surface to Surface.
Was more likely an S300.

That is a ballistic missile system - reddit is saying they used a ballistic missile system to shoot down a fighter jet? Wow.
Destroyed on the ground

I gotta be honest, I should feel happy/validated that this is going as I predicted, especially after multiple pages of pre-invasion arguments with Enkore who thought Russia would achieved air supremacy in <24h and steamroll to Kiev with their super tanks. But to be honest I'm genuinely shocked I was right, I feel my opinion of Ukrainian AA/anti tank capabilities was probably inflated subconsciously due to my wanting them to be able to hold Russia off but it turns out not lol.

I see reports of Ukrainian AA managing to shoot down SU-30s. That's the most advance fighter that Russia have (excluding the SU-57 of which they only have 10).
At the end of the day, the Su-30 is not as stealthy as the F-117 and in NATO's campaign against Yugoslavia in 1999 one of those was taken out by an S-125 from the 1960's. Like I said weeks ago Ukraine has hundreds of SAMS of varying ages/capabilities from the same S-125 model that downed that F-117 to their latest S-300s which have been retrofitted with so many updates they're practically at the level of an S-400. Russia's inability to take enough of them out has caused a serious danger zone (queue music) for their aircraft. After all the Su-30 and it's like may be super manoeuvrable but that only helps against AA missiles fired by other aircraft, you can't dodge a full sized SAM missile, they're too fast and the blast is too big and it seems their countermeasures aren't enough. Russia either really miscalculated a lot of factors to this invasion or simply don't care about losses.

Yes, check out the wiki for the S300, an advanced version of it (actually S400) has the NATO designation SA-21 so that figures.

Trump said it was a smart move to snatch Ukraine (if he did/does it) because Putin knows how weak America and Europe Politically is right now, he knows there won't be much to stop him, there's no conceivable threat. It doesn't mean Trump supports Putins actions, it's more a derogatory comment aimed Biden.

A consequence of his inability to craft more complex narratives, I got his meaning but it was obviously going to go down badly with critics from the wording alone.

Issue with the BBC is that it has to go through lots of filters and verify before spouting it. Hence it's normally slow and, when not politically bent, reliable.

Least the Russians know the S300 works on .. their own planes.
