Except they won't because punishing the people has historically been shown to make them more forgiving of their dictator and more hostile to the countries applying the sanctions. I.E Iran, North Korea, Japan, just about every other place we've tried it.
They will blame their government. This is a turning point now. The Russian people didn’t want to fight Ukraine.

a selection of russian banks will be ejected from SWIFT, not all of them!

Those with assets belonging to government and Putin's friends I take it.

As always blocking SWIFT harms the average Joe on the street. However given it's over a weekend.. I suspect that the EU think it's all over by Monday morning and they can restore it for the Russian public..

Putin doesn't strike me as being a particularly great loser. This could all turn really nasty, and not just for Ukraine.

Looks like the sanctions are increasing which he won't like. I just can't see how this is all going to end.
Agreed.
I wouldn't be celebrating this too soon. But it is the right thing to I do.

Truly cutting off Russia from the west is most likely going to lead to the one or all of the following outcomes.
Russia gets a lot closer with china and countries in the east. Imagine a nato like alliance between china and Russia.
War in past has previously been fought for resources if Russia gets desperate then expect WW3 to happen.

I don't think they're going to run out of MANPADS any time soon, Russia might face quite a few more losses of aircraft.

Yup, but it's a one way slope.

The further they push them back/box them in the more confined their aoe is. Gets to a point where the convoy is static/situationally irrelevant, and can be howitzered out of existence at leisure.

Urban combat is a completely different ballgame, hoping it doesn't come to that.

Russia doesn't want to be close with China, it's too enamoured with Europe for that, but yes we're not giving them much choice.

They have family here and, therefore, would be considerably cheaper and easier for us to take. If you want to brass tack it (personally, I'd also consider the human aspect of allowing people forced from their homes by war to link up with family, but such empathy seems beyond your ability)

And I'm sure they would likely get a visa if they have family here. Who is checking otherwise?

Also note how it doesn't actually say they are refugees. It could easily just be Ukranians in france wishing to join family in the UK. The fact they don't pull on that thread in the tweet suggests they are unlikely to be refugees.

Also someone has already pointed this out to the firm of solicitors on twitter.
