In one sense Putin is doing a lot of good with all of the knock on effects, would love to see his rage right now. :p

The UK should do something similar. I know we spend more than 2% on defence (although I'm not convinced that doesn't involve some creative accounting) and we have some impressive kit but in terms of numbers of ships, planes etc we just don't have enough.

Seems like Germany decided to pull their weight and add 100bn euros to their defence budget, maybe if they did this when Trump told them to back in 2016 they'd have a large military capable of the defence of Western Europe now instead of us relying on American tanks if Russia decides to keep going past Ukraine.

Better late than never.

Still need to change their constitution regarding offensive action though which is a difficult thing for them to do, but they've changed a lot in just a few days so maybe it's not outside the realms of reality now.

It's almost a shame seeing Germany be forced into a posture it's spent decades trying to avoid.

Any cases of where that’s happened when fighting for the “right side”?
The testing in courts is even weaker due to how recent the change is, but take the idiots who travelled to join their partners in ISIS as some grand adventure to realise it's a violent clown show and didn't do much beyond sitting around and being abused, and want to return home. They should face justice here but not statelessness.

What about their kids? The act can easily cover both sides of the conflict in Ukraine. Who decides 'the right side', 'conducive to the public good', defines terrorism and has the power of ultimate decision on each case? What about appeal? Measures like these should be as far removed from the executive branch of government as possible and firmly in the hands of the courts.

If what’s happened in the last few days is anything to go buy, I don’t think Russia would be much of a match for the combined forces of Europe TBH

I don’t think they would have been able to justify this to their voter base before Putin went full mental.

It seems that we must move away from dealing with countries who have the eternal president. Hopefully Turkey will take note - and move away from giving ever growing terms to Erdogan.

Johnny FD and Bald Sheltering in place in Kyiv, showing the situation on the streets, you know what surprises me? No looting, no panic buying (For the most part), no disorder. Just respectful people trying to go about business as best they can considering the situation. If that was UK/US, it would be mayhem and anarchy.

Someone has to pay for it all though. Great if your business of making military hardware, not so great for a already stretched public purse.

This is the list of companies they're targeting. So not only are Russians going to struggle to get money out of ATMs and physical banks tomorrow they won't be able to move money around online.

This invasion is showing some reality to Putin and Russia. If they are struggling with Ukraine they don't stand a chance against a more advanced country, and especially if Nato forces appear.
