He talks like we are the aggressor, what an idiot, he is the one doing all of this. If there's a nuclear war I hope I am killed instantly in the blast, I don't want to suffer horribly in a futile situation.

I'm surprised we've not seen more anti-NATO threats already. The NATO nations are openly arming Ukraine and waging economic warfare on Russia.

His Generals know that nuclear action is a one way ticket, and the failsafe of nuclear war is a response. This is not what the Russian public want or deserve.
A military mind can't understand this: regardless of how Putin plans to break the Ukrainian military and deter the West from direct involvement, he repeatedly, through action and word, failed to define the answer for what happens next - his ultimate game plan and actual demands, not propaganda.

-If he takes Ukraine, he can't hold it
-If he takes bits of Ukraine and enters a cold war on multiple fronts, he looks like a moron
-Double moron if he just retreats, so he is in a corner of his own making
-If he nukes Ukraine, he's an international pariah in an isolated state with everyone turning against him while he still lives
-If this escalates to NATO and goes nuclear, everyone loses
-If he pushes into the Baltics and starts attacking Sweden, then he's severely overstretched with no allies and on NATO's direct border

It's not 4D chess - utter lunacy or desperation. It can only be reasoned through in Putin's version of reality, which has never existed on the ground. I do hope Shoygu or another commander finally slaps some sense into Vlad and has enough internal backing not to be offed in the process.

With a language barrier, lack of skills (playing CoD doesn't count) and no training with experienced crew - it would be just like the Russian conscripts.

That minister is potentially one of worst ever when it comes to statements. We support you going to fight says the defense minister who isn't sending any troops to fight.
Sometimes saying nothing is better.

It’s all getting a bit real isn’t it :(
His threats are just threats (unless he's insane he doesn't want nuclear war and mutual destruction either), we need to stand up to him before he makes the situation worse and we have to respond in a bigger and more costly way.

Pretty sure I saw some destroyed T-80 and T-90 tanks this morning. If that isn’t his best then what’s he hiding?

People seem to be confused by the fact that large parts of the Russian army are made up of conscripts, that they're there (they literally have to be for this many troops to be committed) doesn't imply that "Putin isn't sending his best".

...Ditto to the comments about old equipment, that the majority of their equipment... while military enthusiasts might be fascinated by shiny new Russian tanks etc.. they don't have that many of them!

Sure, I was generalising. Obviously there's some good stuff on the field as well. Putin is certainly sending some of his best. The problem is that he doesn't have much 'best' to send in the first place.

Footage of captured soldiers and vehicles tends to follow a consistent theme: young conscripts, and old equipment.

When you see Russian soldiers in a tank that's literally stuck on the side of the road because they've run out of fuel, you have to wonder if Russia learned anything from her disastrous adventures in Chechnya.

Not me! I'm Australian and have a black coupe so i will be right :p

His power/standing and ego may be.
And tbf he does scream of one of those people who wants to commit suicide and take as many folk with him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he has unilateral nuking ability, and all of his puppet leaders will do as they're told.

UK government say they are ok if British people want to go fight for Ukraine.

If i was young enough and fit i would go!!

There doesn't seem to be much coverage of the conflict in the mainstream media.

If Russia invaded the UK would we likely have a media blackout or would they still be making efforts to keep the public informed, although it'd likely be deemed too dangerous for reporters/camera crews?

Russia are struggling to invade a much, much weaker force right on their border. I wouldn't worry about their capability to invade the UK :p
