It was said as to how they(Russia) would negotiate their departure and that the only reason their convoy hadn't been destroyed yet was to give it a chance to turn around(as in head home)

The west doesn't want a proxy war in the Ukraine as much as Russia does.

Running through the various scenario's how to close this off though.

1 - Russia Pull back (not likely)
2 - Putin displaced I have zero idea if this is even possible and Russia say sorry and the west gets all the re-build contracts (Russia wont pay for anything)
3 - Ukraine gets cut in half, other half becomes part of NATO & the EU and the people are allowed to move freely before the line is drawn
4 - China leans on Russia and mediates better terms just for them.

5 - Not worth thinking about.

3 might be unlikely, the guess is Russia wants the various gas deposits around the country, as well as getting Crimea up and running again.

Has anyone seen the video of russian forces shooting some guy dad in front of him as they tried to escape car under fire? its doing the rounds now absoloutely appauling.

Cant wait to see Putin dead or in a jail and hope one day he gets whats coming to him.

No, as these type of videos not even hints are given on here in which parts of the internet they shown on.

He’s right though, we have already said we won’t deploy troops to force Putin to back down so if we want the conflict to stop we have to give Putin an option where he gets to end the conflict and sell it to himself as something other than humiliation other wise he will simply carry on escalating which helps nobody and costs both sides lives and billions of pounds. Dialogue is the only way this ends as we are rightly not willing to kick start world war three or do you have another suggestion?

Putin has shown many times he isn't interested in an off ramp - even now I'll be highly surprised if he will take an option to end the conflict which isn't either selling out to him or gives him the upper hand in some way i.e. time to build up more forces.

The problem with his "legitimate security interests" is that they're absolute rubbish.

I'd heard on Sky news that the UN had a meeting and both Russia and Ukraine had a representative there and both offered up their viewpoints. I was amazed the rest of the UN council could keep a straight face when the Russian representative accused Ukraine of genocide.

Not necessarily all for the bad though. It's nice to see that when there is an important decision to make, the civilised countries can all get on board and agree / unify with the decisions that need to be made.

Maybe there's hope for climate change.
 
Russia wont be able to stop the West from continuing to equip Ukraine with military items. They can try but they will fail.
