Some tips on how to avoid doomscrolling at this time of uncertainty

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60557186

I admit to spending way too much time reading this thread over the last few days, waiting for verified news rather than rumours / speculation is probably healthier.

I think the tweets in that article need posting here every 10 posts or so :p

Tbh, the TSAR Nuke was a single use weapon used just to show the world what the USSR was actually capable of. They certainly don't have that kind of power nowadays.

It was also only that powerful because USSR guidance systems were not that accurate so tp be sure of success they went big

With highly precise tactical nukes, they csn be much lower yield but be much more effective in taking out required assets while reducing radiation and civilian deaths. They are cheap to build and maintain, and more likely to deliver. The TSAR bomb was so big it needed a special plane, that was highly vulnerable. And huge cost to build 1. 100 low yield warheads landing within 1m of the target is a far more powerful weapon

Yes India's was a complete ***********, and nearly damaged it ISS in the process, as they didn't seem to think shrapnel from ****** up satellites occurred.

blowing up satellites is a bad idea, you're just ask likely to damage or destroy your own satellites as anyone else's by creating a massive debris field

Quite a few countries have demonstrated shooting down satellites over the last few years so India probably wanted to join in without realising not to actually detonate them while they are too high in orbit
