I wasn't sure if this should be in cooking forum but being as it's a bodge job I have put it here.

The wife and I have Arthritis in our hands so lifting a full hot saucepan is now difficult. We use a 18/20cm induction saucepan which is ten years old so on it's own it's heavy so I thought perhaps i could find another handle to screw on opposite side.I am talking knob or small handle - I did think of just using the 20cm stock pot with two handles but taking it off oven is easy you then find it difficult to pour the water out and holding a sieve in one hand and stock pot handle isn't for pouring.
Yes we could use a big plastic bowl and put sieve on that but you are then either pouring away or towards you.

Not being able to find a suitable small handle or knob I thought perhaps a 3" SS nut and bolt (the bodge job) or tomorrow I will have a look round Lidl for a really cheap pan with suitable handle on.

So has anyone got any more ideas for ways to do this - We really do want the normal handle on the one side - I havent found any yet that also has a knob or handle on other side unless it's a large pan to start with.
I am talking about a small assistance handle not another normal long one.

Thanks so far.
Unfortunately there isn't anything opposite the handle to grab onto or we would use a tea towel.

We do use a colander for some jobs but our main use for this saucepan is boiling Veg and we use the water to make gravy with so one hand on sieve over jug of granuals and one on handle -
We could have course do the colander way then tip water into jug. -Will try that on next meal with veg.
Salad and baked spud tonight.

Those pans on Amazon are a tad too big but that is style we want -No one seems to put the other handle on smaller pans - Only stock pots

Boil veg? Steam it, steamers have two handles. Use the water to make your gravy and its already strained in the bottom for you.

We did try a steamer but wife didn't like it - so being the Boss we still boil it.

If I could find a 18/20cm saucepan with small handle on opposite side to main handle I would buy one.
All pans I have found with that little handle are way to big.
I think I will try the 3" stainless steel nut and bolt road. :D

Just find a handle and get someone to weld it on to existing pan for you?

I just went to buy this but thought what are those plastic things on the pan - are they fixed or is it just a protective thing for delivery.
I remeasured my pan and it is 18cm but am willing to go for this as our pan is slightly to small for hob ring.

I can't see any plastic on that one - it says oven safe up to 240c and looks to be all steel.

Did you mean the argos one I linked to? I dont think that one is oven safe due to the plastic covers on the handles?
