Some AMD cards are now approaching MSRP

Exactly :)

People are treating rt the same way they did with nvidias overdone tessellation back in the crysis 2 and witcher 3 days, difference being, it's not even remotely close to being the same scenario.

£650 for a 3080 was and still is a great deal, getting very good rasterization performance as it is, good RT and dlss too is just the cherry on top. Meanwhile show me where I can get a 6800xt for that/MSRP price in the UK ;) Why pay more for less? :D

DLSS? i thought you wanted better graphics?

When you said "6900XT" i though you were going for that last 7% at any cost, does mater what name you give it above the 6800XT / RTX 3080 they are all a con.
Well, I can't help that. I was just looking at cards that are closer to msrp that will last a good few years in my use case (VR + ultrawide gaming).

At this point i'm just going to wait for the next generation, i'll get 3080 performance levels from something lower in the stack.

The problem is predicting the situation, since I've lived through two of those crypto booms. I've been wanting a 3080 since launch, and just a little excited to see graphics cards again.

It's moved on from 1.0 you know ;)

Regarding Shadow Warrior 3 - https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-perfor...s-amd-fsr-comparisons-benchmarks/#more-161913

All in all, we highly recommend using DLSS Quality in this game. Contrary to Dying Light 2, we did not notice any ghosting or smearing issues. Shadow Warrior 3 looks and performs better with DLSS Quality than native 4K. Alternatively, and if you don’t have an RTX GPU, you can give AMD FSR Ultra Quality a go.

I think they were a little too quick off the mark with their DL2 thoughts as I remember DLSS issues being patched out on day 1.

I'm guessing you refuse to accept that DLSS can bring better IQ too then  Bearing in mind, gamers nexus, HU, pcgh, dsogaming, techpowerup etc. have all said dlss can look better than native and with evidence.... ;)

The thing is i find the performance of the 3070 vs my card (equivalent price RRP) underwhelming and the 3080 too hard to swallow at £700.

Mine is a good card and clocks strongly, a 3070 is little over 20% faster, that's just crap.

Yup sadly another case where people will make claims with no backups or/and live in the past with the first iteration... :o

With regards to DL 2, it defo was fixed either in a nvidia driver update or/and game update as I noticed no ghosting issues and found it better than default TAA/native for motion. Sure, I can go and find some areas where "native" will look sharper/more detailed than dlss but I can also do that with dlss and find areas which look more detailed/sharper than native.... overall, dlss looks better 90% of the time in my experience, I even use it when there is no need for extra perf. as it is a superior AA method to everything else on the market atm, with the exception of DLAA but then that isn't in most games at the moment.

Well yes, i do...

Got evidence to support that?

It would be, but I'm after a two generation jump. I didn't even look at the rtx 2080. I could squeeze three, but I don't want to wait years. It gets stressful. :(

You made the claim so i'm going to make you disprove my negative, should be fairly easy, if its true.

So far i have upgraded every generation.

GTX 970
GTX 1070
RTX 2070 Super

And for years before that.

not anymore.

I've named all the sources, which have stated this over the last year across the majority of games with dlss,... you can go and read/watch yourself but again there's no point because we all know you won't agree with them because it doesn't fit your narrative ;)

Wrinkly has just linked one of the games:

What juicy gossip have you heard from the knitting circle? Has Nvidia decided to pull the RT cores? Perhaps Intel's delay is due to removal of said cores? What about AMD, have they decided that RT is no longer worth developing? Has Sony torn up it's latest patent on RT? It's not Microsoft reverting to DX 11 is it? Could it be Hollywood is planning a return to paper plates dangled from string and maybe the odd rubber shark?

Conspiracy theories aside, yes increasing does tend to suggest an upword tally.

This is the GPU section. WTF did you two expect?

Knitting circle?

Please don't start "educating" us about your other hobby, i'm sure no-one cares about knitting either!

RT and knitting! what a combo!

No, anyone can spam links, again i want it in your words so that i can see if you have any understanding of what you're talking about.

"What i say is true, go check good to confirm my truth..." is never an argument, you made the claim, its not my job to prove your truth.

And again, why waste time writing an essay when you have several of the most reputable tech./gpu enthusiasts/journalists all stating the same thing? You're the one saying opposite to all of them and going against the majority of consumers experience with yet again.... nothing to back your claims up.

Ok Mr augment and enhance how do you propose that works, Jim?

I can tell this has your noggin jogging so i'll give you a clue.

Why do you think we cannot scan a blurry image from 1920 and fill in all the gaps in detail to turn it in to something like it was taken with the latest iPone?
