Certain sorts of cluster bombs are banned not all of them, and Russia never agreed or signed up to the ban so are free to use them.

yes - who said TB's were - bellingcat interview you can watch from yesterday where they are verifying footage on the cluster bomb videos to see if those they used should be condemned.

I'm irate that the IOC thinks sport is beyond politics and their playground games shouldn't be impacted ;

I'm an office worker with no aggression or military will. I'm fit and healthy, that's all.

But one thing I can say, if they came to our country and tried to change the way I lived I'd be there with a gun ready to have a damn good go at fighting them. Of course I'd die fairly quickly, but at least I'd fought.

Meanwhile those that didn't can live a different life unable to voice their views and be washed with state controlled media.

I imagine all of Ukraine are fighting. I doubt very few are saying "ok our army, govn, can you stop now and just accept were part of Russian rule again"

Imagine that's where some of the hubris came from to endeavour upon this expedition into Ukraine thinking that since the USSR was bested, then summarily destroyed from within then surely the West would also share that fate.

More than a few comments in this thread suggested they were which is incorrect.

Banned or not is irrelevant, Putin has no regard for legal or illegal anything so I don't know why people keep bringing it up.

With the likes of Culdrose probably not a great bet.

Most nuclear winter studies have serious flaws - such as assuming all bombs in an attack hit dense urban environments when in reality lots would be aimed at military and infrastructure locations which are often sparser.

But military bases won't take a huge attack to destroy, a single warhead could deal with that... the point is you'll likely have survivors in sparsely populated areas, obviously, you'd not likely have that near significant military bases.

It's highly unlikely major cities would be avoided, Russia has more than enough to target both major cities and military bases.

An honest answer is, if it was one bomb, not a lot.

There might be some fallout if the wind was in the wrong direction for a few days, but nowhere north of the Midlands and especially not Highlands of Scotland would even know there had been a bomb go off unless shown on the news.
