Some AMD cards are now approaching MSRP

I got lucky on a 3070ti founders drop (upgraded from Vega56 - which I loved). If I could get the 6700XT / 6800XT at MSRP I'd have that over an nvidia card any day. Shady business practises and forcing companies to do what they say or else they don't get chips... Rather not support that business. AMDs drivers I feel are better and more 'open' than team green - especially on Linux.

If AMD had founders drops in the UK, I'd have gone that route. Even the 3050 is a lie at £250 and is really a £380 card, which it gets owned by the 6600 at the same price.

Not bothered by RTX as rasterization is still pretty damn convincing, unless you're pixel peeping - there are videos of blind taste tests. Play the games and enjoy!
AMD are no better tbh, just look at how they jacked the CPU prices as soon as they took the lead and by 50% on the supposedly budget friendly ryzen 5. Also like you said you bought an FE card because it was the only option for MSRP whereas AMD couldn't even be bothered to sell in the uk through their store.

The 3050 isn't a good deal but then nor is the 6600 @£380 which is only 5% faster than a 5600XT which sold for £250 so AMD isn't really doing you any favours while for the £380 you could get a 3060ti FE.

It’s also an AMD price related thread which is yet again being hijacked by the Church of nVidia with their preachy followers.

Agree.

While the old ladies knitting circle sing 'We don't need no education'

In a more sensible discussion we would discuss why prices are dropping right now, but here we have fanboys throw a tantrum at the suggestion it maybe down to lacking features as such features become more popular. It's also interesting to see AMD cut CPU pricing as Alder Lake claws back some market share - https://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-5000...cuts-5950x-599-5900x-449-5800x-299-5600x-229/

We should be glad competition is helping to lower prices and improve performance for us all, hopefully the same will happen for GPUs.
As for features, personally I'd say the more the better no matter who brings them first (although I'd rather have them coming through standards like DirectX rather than proprietary), I'm only wary of upscaling as that might become an excuse for developers to cut back on optimization...

I don't think that's likely - in fact, to hit 4k on the current generation of consoles, games have to be aggressively optimised even with TAAU, checkerboarding or whatever other technologies they're using (and even then, the consoles are rarely at a locked 60 fps).

I do think that upscaling in the form of DLSS or XeSS or similar will become the norm going forward though - if 8k displays ever begin to see serious adoption (and the TV companies are gonna push hard for it - they've gotta sell you something) current GPU tech, heck even the next generation of tech won't be able to drive them native.

If you want all the bells and whistles on current-day RT games like Cyberpunk at 4k you've gotta use DLSS - as the demand for greater realism and higher resolutions/framerates increases, upscaling is the only way to meet that demand.

That's the thing, 4K has been promised for years and yet in most cases it's still playable only by cheating.
8k is honestly overkill, who seriously need that kind of resolution when even imax is 4k?

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, the difference IMAX Digital vs 4K UHD is quite large :p

Code:
IMAX Digital 5616 × 4096 1.37:1 23,003,136

4K UHD-1 3840 × 2160 16∶9 8,294,400

It already is the norm. I don't think there is a single game that doesn't have some form of upscaling tech now? At least all the main titles being released are including dlss or/and fsr.

There are always those who are resistant change for what ever reason be it resentment, fear, brand loyalty or lack of education.. you must also realise there are poor souls who cannot 'see' raytracing, cannot see the nuancess in the way projected/reflected light interacts in a scene. Do not berate these people, pitty them, for they are the victims of biology, they are the blind in an age of visual splendor.

Poetic.

im finding spoilt child syndrome in here, its my way or no way, just keep belittling those that dont agree with them, sound familiar?. no tolerence, sounds like russia tbh

Many UK/US plebs speak out against Russia forgetting it was the UK/US partnership to destabilise Europe that has led to war.

Putting that aside, we simply compare GPU tech. here.

Very much so, screaming like children at anyone who doesn't care about RT, or actually think it's just very meh. No other opinions allowed though, just like Russia, China, North Korea.

Even got that RT mirror reflection in

Before anyone starts crying, I couldn't really give a toss if you like RT or not.
