Some AMD cards are now approaching MSRP

RT yes, the rest you just made up due to having no sensible reply

You've had your sensible reply, no-one wants to be "educated" about RT...

If people don't rate it, that's their opinion, full stop. But as you just cannot accept that as you're emotionally invested in it. Which given that it is a GPU technology is all sorts of weird.

;)

Then stop posting ignorant BS :D

I'm out of time, have to get some dinner before my local shop closes, plus i want to watch the news.

Be back in a few hours, maybe...

There's a whole forum section for it, Graphics Cards. You could ask for a Legacy GPU section if you are not interested in the latest tech.
though bet you RT peeps invade that section too:cry:
starting to remind me of jehovah witnesses, not wanted, but still go on and on about same thing:D;)

RT peeps? People interested in tech. from AMD, Microsoft, Nvidia, Sony, etc. Why would such people visit a Graphics Cards section in the first place?

As I already said, ask for a Legacy GPU section if you are not interested in modern GPU tech.

LOL! Perfect - Ray Tracing Witnesses!

It certainly is as there were a few muppets claiming that you couldn't even see RT not so long ago

when ever i have a spare 5 mins, all i have to do is mention RT and in you pour, you remind me of this,

did i hear someone mention RT
:D:cry:

Gentlemen, with all due respect you're going off topic, please keep the brand clashes elsewhere.
RX6700 in Italy is down another 2€, 766 instead of 768. Still 200€ more than it should be but it's progress.

Did you have a 2080TI?

I have a regular RTX2080. Was significantly cheaper than Vega VII, I think is now overall faster, less power hungry, came with a couple of free games and is pretty quiet.

RTX3080 at a shop in my country is around 1462 euros (cheapest), while the cheapest 6800XT is around 1368 euros. For me, having the extra grunt for RT and DLSS is worth the price difference if I were to buy those as I think will last a lot longer.

The 6900XT is tempting, but I've never owned a AMD card so the stories about them fill me with dread. RT/DLSS isn't really the selling point for Nvidia cards to me. It's more familiarity and knowing they have the bigger market share, which, going by Internet voices, pays off in the software (drivers, game bias etc etc). I think I'd only choose AMD if they were a lot cheaper than they are.

Don't know how they are these days, but overall, when I had them back in the day ( HD3850, HD4850 single and Cross Fire, HD5850, HD6900, HD7950 and R290), they were fine - execept the cross fire that was hit or miss. The driver interface and functions (especially for Eyefinity/Surround on the later models/drivers), I found them to be better than nVIDIA's - as in easier to use.

Exactly :)

People are treating rt the same way they did with nvidias overdone tessellation back in the crysis 2 and witcher 3 days, difference being, it's not even remotely close to being the same scenario.

£650 for a 3080 was and still is a great deal, getting very good rasterization performance as it is, good RT and dlss too is just the cherry on top. Meanwhile show me where I can get a 6800xt for that/MSRP price in the UK ;) Why pay more for less? :D

Yup. The problem with them would be the need of a high end CPU (as is more CPU depended than nVIDIA), plus more power hungry, so better PSU + higher electricity bill. But at this point they're far too expensive, all of them. :)

As someone who used a 300W limited 3080 with a decade old 3770k based system until recently

Indeed the push to upgrade was from the time taken to generate Android archives within VS.

I got lucky on a 3070ti founders drop (upgraded from Vega56 - which I loved). If I could get the 6700XT / 6800XT at MSRP I'd have that over an nvidia card any day. Shady business practises and forcing companies to do what they say or else they don't get chips... Rather not support that business. AMDs drivers I feel are better and more 'open' than team green - especially on Linux.

If AMD had founders drops in the UK, I'd have gone that route. Even the 3050 is a lie at £250 and is really a £380 card, which it gets owned by the 6600 at the same price.

Not bothered by RTX as rasterization is still pretty damn convincing, unless you're pixel peeping - there are videos of blind taste tests. Play the games and enjoy!

More to fall to think, the auction place is being flooded with gpu's. I've lost count how many Vegas have been listed lately, tells you miners are starting to dump their cards in significant numbers

Used to feel the same regarding Nvidia then realised it was just myself missing out. Last AMD card was the R9 290. Since then I just pick the best featured at time of purchase, AMD, Nvidia, Intel, I'd even consider Huawei if they made GPUs. BTW. https://wccftech.com/amd-offers-bol...e-rollout-of-new-invite-only-partner-program/

Good to see the alerts that used to ping 3060Ti on one of my accounts showing nearer to the £500 instead of the £700 that was regular for the local indian spiced retailer (as an example).

I saw knitting.
Stayed for the knitting.

Other than that. My £865 RTX 3070 inno3D ichill x4 is now £999 ....

And again, why waste time writing an essay when you have several of the most reputable tech./gpu enthusiasts/journalists all stating the same thing? You're the one saying opposite to all of them and going against the majority of consumers experience with yet again.... nothing to back your claims up.

There are always those who are resistant change for what ever reason be it resentment, fear, brand loyalty or lack of education.. you must also realise there are poor souls who cannot 'see' raytracing, cannot see the nuancess in the way projected/reflected light interacts in a scene. Do not berate these people, pitty them, for they are the victims of biology, they are the blind in an age of visual splendor.
