You love to see it!

:D
They want the west lifestyle, yet they complain.

Sure enough, as expected, Russian airlines with leased planes don't have insurance... Wonder if the Russian government is happy to use foreign reserves to underwrite this?
Though of course operating internationally means an obvious risk of the planes being seized in some of the countries they can still fly to:

Curious how we get the planes back, we can't just send the debt collectors round ...

You can't necessarily in Russia if they refuse to return them, but outside Russia, there are various countries signed up to treaties concerning this stuff (which is part of what makes this sort of leasing feasible) if they were to fly outside Russia and the leasing company wanted the planes back then AFAIK those other countries would have to seize them.

The barbarity of Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine was laid bare again today after distressing images emerged of doctors frantically trying to save a baby boy killed by Russian shelling as Mariupol comes under intense bombardment by Kremlin forces.

Photos show Kirill’s devastated mother Marina Yatsko and her boyfriend Fedor grieving as they embrace his lifeless body laid out on a stretcher in a hospital in the besieged city.

They will cannibalize some jets to keep others going, the leasing companies are going to be at a massive loss.

They can't do that internationally and domestically they'd have to get the Russian government to underwrite it. Also if they did do this now and say the conflict was over in the next month then they're basically screwed, where do they source future planes from, how can they run any sort of airline if no one is happy to lease to them or insurance premiums required to fly internationally go through the roof.

These sanctions are going to last years, they need to do something to keep the domestic market functional, they are in progress of making 737max competitors but sanctions have set that back further, they will just end up buying Comac stuff.

See 2:52 forward in the YouTube i linked.

He does say he dosnt care what member your an alliance of a mere bluff? or something to be concerned about in the future.

I think it has somewhat been brought on by the NATO expansion. Regardless of it not being agreed that it couldn't expand, it was obvious it would stoke opposition from Russia. What were seeing is the price the west has to pay for democracy and self determination to choose to be a part of NATO.
