We need to show Putin this, it’ll sort him right out
The NATO (countries other than the host nations) forces on Russia's border was miniscule before this.
Later, Russia’s foreign ministry followed up Putin’s warning by specifically singling out the UK for what it called “sanctions hysteria” and its prominent role in supporting Ukraine. Maria Zakharova, the foreign ministry spokeswoman, said Russia would not forget the UK’s cooperation with Kyiv.
“The sanctions hysteria in which London plays one of the leading, if not the main, roles, leaves us no choice but to take proportionately tough retaliatory measures,”
Personnel wise but all those extra countries that joined are extra bases. It's the equivalent of having a line of aircraft carriers permanently anchored off the US. It's a provocative stance that has poked the bear.
Nah the bear is of his rocker, he is somewhat old fashioned in his views. People huhPersonnel wise but all those extra countries that joined are extra bases. It's the equivalent of having a line of aircraft carriers permanently anchored off the US. It's a provocative stance that has poked the bear.
They’re just bitter we took all their bribes for nothing. This statement from Russia doesn't quite fit with the 'UK dragging it's heels' view that many in here pounced on yesterday.
Britain?Nice small insignificant islands are the way to go I feel.![]()
How? He's blocked social mediaWe need to show Putin this, it’ll sort him right out
Poked the bear to want borders even closer to nato?
Why does he/would he think anyone is going to attack Moscow,?Borders yes but more distance between them and Mosco etc.
Britain?
oh snap !!!!111
He can justify it with the fact he warned the West not to get involved. He has probably deluded himself over many decades, that what he does is for the good of the motherland and it's people. It's not him in his eyes that is applying sanctions even though they're a consequence of his actions, I doubt he sees it that way. Ukraine isn't part of NATO so it's a tough one but loosing Ukraine is a better price to pay than setting off a bigger conflict that could involve nukes. NATO shouldn't have pushed so far east. Basically this NATO advance to the east has created a ticking timebomb. I'm not saying Russia is right to invade another country but NATO must have realised if it pushed more and more resources to Russia's borders that it would spark something off. I'm sure if Russia buddied up with Mexico & Canada etc the US wouldn't sit back and shrug it off.
You should look into the history of Russia a bit more. Why does he/would he think anyone is going to attack Moscow,?

Look at a map of bases and nuclear weapons buildup over the last few decades and that last sentence of yours, to anyone who was impartial, would be hilariously inaccurate.Just no.
If countries want to join it's their wish.
NATO is zero threat to Russia.
Just no.

Because it's an aggressive stance to expand right up to someone's border and all the extra NATO infrastructure that would bring. If they weren't planning to use it why put it there. Especially if he's no reason to invade Europe. Hence he has hit back first to reassert his claim on the territory to his west. Maybe he'll continue with others such as Finland next.
His actions in Ukraine have provoked NATO into reinforcing their borders and Germany into spending much more on defence. Also, neutral countries are considering joining because of Russia's threatening actions. Those actions are counterproductive to his supposed concerns which is why I don't believe him.Though he probably sees it as taking back something that was Russia's and is feeling insecure about so many NATO assets on his border. It's a miss step from NATO to have underestimated his response that he'd just sit back and accept a massing of might on his border. They'd have done well to have left it alone until after Putin had gone and they'd had a good measure on how the land lays with his replacement.
