Why are you talking about African immigrants in a thread about a war between Ukraine and Russia.
Because who do you think is largely currently occupying our asylum system?

Well there's clearly an issue as we're having to house asylum seekers in hotels and private accommodation. Additionally the centres are in apparently awful states, not fit for human habitation.. At least according to The Guardian.
No idea on others, but tour round the one here, looked ok to me.
Not the Ritz granted, not even a decent Travellodge, but definitely clean and maintained.
They already claim the Ukrainians are Nazi terrorists anyway... so?
Short of the Ukranians allowing a ceasefire to let the Russians withdraw, I just don't know how they are going to extricate themselves. If they stay, this could drag on for years. Not sure whether this has been posted already, but someone has done a good quality translation of that leaked FSB letter (some question over whether it is real or not, but it seems to be taken seriously by people I would think are credible), and it's well worth a read:
I'm increasingly convinced that not only can Russia not win this war but that it has already lost. Putin's goals are unachievable, the military costs mounting rapidly, and the economy in ruins. The question isn't whether Russia wins, it's how much of Ukraine it devastates before admitting defeat.
Well they are not all full, so not sure what you mean by that.
One near me is barely 50% full.
Applied for a job there recently, just waiting to hear back.
As a country we're paying 1.5 million per day to house asylum seekers in hotels and privately owned accommodation. That shows we have a significant problem.

Possibly, not close enough to know all the in's and out's of it.
Maybe, possibly, paperwork is being dragged out for whatever reason?
Maybe a lot could be flown out tomorrow if paperwork was sorted faster?
I don't know Just a thought
Civil service in general, in my experience, is not the swiftest of processs.
I think his goal now will be just to take Zelensky out and hope that makes the Ukranians fold.Agreed, there seems to be nothing Putin can gain at this point. If he can't take Kyiv, I'm convinced he will simply cause as much damage as possible out of spite.

So ignore my question then and retort with a moronic statement. It is unbelievable that you don't have the intelligence to come up with the answer for yourself...
Where's the evidence she's aiming to be with her close family? There is already a process in place for this and she's been rejected so clearly that isn't the case. She is in a safe country. Most French speak very good English.

If paperwork was being dragged out why wouldn't we house them in your half-full centre? Dedicated residences should be the first port of call.
Crimea maybe, I’m not sure ceding land in the east will be acceptable now. That will taste too much like a defeat if the Russians are allowed to back out and take land.I think there's little doubt that Ukraine would accept a peace dealt that allowed Russian soldiers and equipment to peacefully withdraw. I think it's also likely that granting Crimea to Russia and possibly some parts of Eastern Ukraine will ultimately be accepted. The parallels to the Winter War with Finland are strong.
London is a large financial centre... as for the Tories and their donors, that's perhaps for an SC containment thread, it's not particularly interesting or relevant here.
It isnt 1.5 million at all. He's got a figure and decided to inflate it to suit his argument.
This is the same rhetoric that's been heard since pretty much the 2nd day of the war and yet Russia keep making inroadsNot sure whether this has been posted already, but someone has done a good quality translation of that leaked FSB letter (some question over whether it is real or not, but it seems to be taken seriously by people I would think are credible), and it's well worth a read:

The UK has so far taken in 10 and denied 150 Ukrainians at the border according to the French. The process is clearly not working and it’s embarrassing.
I’m sure it’ll be sorted but you defending it is equally embarrassing. You’d clearly have none of them here.
