Shell already put out a detailed statement as to the reasoning behind this and already stated that proceeds will be put towards supporting Ukraine.

Quite a knee-jerk and unnecessary tweet. Maintaining supply and establishing other sources is equally important before completely refusing Russian oil.

I don't follow. They said they would still buy russian oil to maintain supply until they found alternative sources. This is reasonable; i wouldn't expect them to resolve this for days, if not weeks. So what's the issue? Is it that they got it cheap, or that they lied with their statement after knowing they'd get it cheaper?

I suspect something will give eventually. Red line crossed in Ukraine or attack on polish airbase or something like that. Some excuse to sell to the Russian people for the disaster he’s brought on them. Give them a bogeyman to rally against.
Every military in Europe and US will be prepping for it since that’s pretty much their job. I expect politicians and back door chats will make it very clear that nato will be responding conventionally on any forces not withdrawing from Ukraine. I would imagine there are drones up over Poland and probably other nato countries 24/7 loaded with cruise missiles with targets already picked out. I believe the US has a csg in the med. that would get very tense with those Russian ships in the Black Sea.

He’s not prepared to launch nuclear weapons that is exactly why he won’t invade a NATO country. He might be a deluded senile old man but he doesn’t want to see them end of modern life on earth which is the hall that starts rolling the minute a tank crosses into a NATO member. As people rightly point out NATO wins a conventional war hands down which forces Vlad into a nuclear or loose position being the grade 1 idiot he is he would likely launch the missiles provoking an instant NATO response and some form of nuclear winter. It’s not rocket science, that is by there will be no boots on the ground, no no-fly zones etc. escalation beyond the boarders of Ukraine is bad for everyone including the Ukraine.
