I find the communications problems, especially secure ones, Russia are having a little puzzling - albeit military comms even in the best conditions are often less than ideal. In the build up they spent a good week setting up a large scale R-4xx based secure link network and mobile communication/command units, etc.

Some say it is because the first units were told it was training and so didn't bother to bring encryption keys/modules/equipment but I don't really buy that - at least in my experience that isn't left to individual troops to decide on at an overall level.

Russian military communications was intercepted in Kharkiv after they destroyed all the G3/G4 towers in the area, forcing then to use an insecure line because Era, their super expensive cryptophone system guaranteed to work "in all conditions" was not working.
It was down because Russian forces on the front destroyed all of the nearby 3G and 4G cell towers required for the system to establish a connection :p

Am I hearing this right, he explained to her its not for the ICC to deal with and she responded the plan was to fo the ICC route?

The ICC is the only international court with jurisdiction to prosecute individuals for the international crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and the crime of aggression.

Reads to me the crimes of Putin to this point, he could well comit more atrocities yet, are 100% under the ICC's jurisdiction.

If it was not in their jurisdiction, why is the ICC investigating said crimes with view to prosecution?

The simple fact is though, the court has to prove "intent".
And that is incredibly hard to do.

But reading the above articles, Truss is correct, the ICC route is the way to go currently, as the other tribunals mentioned, do not exist yet, but the ICC does exist, and is currently investigating.

Sir Richard, a former head of the British spy agency MI6 says Russian invasion of Ukraine is not sustainable.
"there's no way that Russia, over time, can sustain a war in a country which is the size of France and part of Germany put together, with a population the size of Spain".

They can do it if they adopt a total war strategy. Given Putin's actions so far, I wouldn't rule that out.
