It's not £1100 for a days work.....

Tax - 20% gone
Extra piping/bits of materials/joints etc
Training/qualifications/insurance/travel/van costs/van insurance/petrol/tool costs
Pick up/delivery of new boiler/disposal of old boiler/clean up time etc etc

Lots of other things to consider - it's not £1100 in their pocket.

Yep plus time spent providing quotes for people who don't bother to get back in touch. Time on evenings spent doing invoices etc.

People who comment on tradesmen prices are often clueless.

I'm hearing lots of good things about ATAG boilers (know a few people that have had them installed). All Stainless steel internals and 10 years warranty as standard with options up to 14 years, ATAG iCon stainless steel heat exchanger – with its unique lifetime replacement guarantee.

Currently looking at Viessmann Boilers. Cost a little more than Baxi or Worcester Bosch but come with a 12 year warranty and seem to have very good reviews. A friend replaced his 11 year old Baxi with one and nearly halved his gas bills. Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger and Hydrogen ready

I have a Worcester Bosch 42CDI, fitted 9.5 years ago and its plastic parts have started to fail 1 by 1 over the last 3 years. Its a decent boiler but the longevity of all boilers nowadays is not great.

The boiler we are looking to replace it is an Ideal boiler. Ive got a couple of gas engineer/plumber friends who both recommend them, with 12 years warranty and a really well managed warranty issues process you cant go wrong.

The boiler we just replaced was an Ideal. My dad was dying with cancer at the time so it was fitted free by the government. I was too young to be involved; she reckons it was serviced 3 times over 14 years. One time I screwed up re-pressurising and the thing almost exploded. Water was forced out of the seals.

Switched it off and on again and it was good for another 8 years :D
