Also, why are all the turrets from tanks and APV's sit next to the burned carcasses of the chassis? Probably a faulty russian design?

T-72`s (and other Russian designs) suffer from the `jack in a box` effect from a penetrating hit - the ammo cooks off and isnt vented outwards, so the path of least resistance is taken - the turret is removed.

aha thanks for your reply, i was puzzled because in the Gulf wars i dont remember seeing Abrams tanks being destroyed like that

Puty seriously misjudged the Ukranians and the way the west have shut off Russia. They are doomed to failure even if they controlled 100% of Ukraine!

This has been a humiliating exposure of Russia's war machine. Even with nukes, can she still be called a superpower?

The combat from Russia does seem rather odd. It's almost as if they are unwilling to actually win it by committing appropriate resources. Either that or their military is nowhere near as operational as they would have us believe.
Put it this way, if they had the aviation resources and precision munitions they are supposed to have, wouldn't they have done a "shock and awe" style attack on all Ukraine's air defenses and aviation capability?
Really not sure what to make of it to be honest.

Shock and awe it isn't, more slow clueless bumbling and when that doesn't work just bomb the place to oblivion every house every building hospitals you name it reduce it to a smoking pile of rubble so theres nothing worth defending anymore aka Syria or Chechnya. They've got form that is the template and frankly they don't care about the humanitarian consequences they're living in such an alternate reality of Putin's own making they'll justify it to themselves and their population as self defence.

Years of corruption have come home to roost. Putin probably thought he had an invincible modern military machine.

This is where it gets ugly. It's going to reduce to chemical weapons and broad spectrum genocide and the west can't do anything about it without crossing a perceived line that Pooty is more than happy to cross himself. He'll bomb the old USSR NATO countries in a flash if he decides that he has nothing to lose (and I suspect he's freaking close to it now). My real concern is at what point does China decide whether they're allies in arms or just riding an economic advantage. Taiwan has to be quietly crapping themselves ATM.

Sadly I think that Putin is happy to watch his young people die as long as there is some perception of forward movement. I do wonder how much of this is getting back to him, I mean if is military leaders have been syphoning off money to buy yachts and feeding him porkies, how much does he actually know about what's going on in Ukraine?

I wonder how much of the good stuff they have wasted in Syria? I wonder if thats why we aint seeing any of the "good" stuff?
I'd imagine they are just trying to do this on the cheap, sacrifice the old stock, I mean its "NOT A WAR" its only a "SPECIAL MILITARY OPERATION"... Keep all the good kit for when the **** really hits the fan.

Russia has been making out their military is stronger than it really is, its a very good tactic "appear strong when you are weak" unfortunately if someone puts that to the test you are exposed. I think they're not using the airforce much as they don't want western analysts taking a good look at their capabilities, which no doubt, will be not much better than their army, basically, they have been bluffing for years.

Something they have been doing since the beginning of the cold war. Old habits die hard...

Aye, when the CIA was running U2 missions over the Soviet Union they were shocked to find their airforce was nowhere near as big as they lead to believe.
