Just stud work and a skim over the plasterboard.
In hindsight I should’ve probably done this. Getting on the property ladder is an expensive game.Yeah this, lose about 6cm off a couple of walls in each room but they all need decorating/plastering anyway. The benefit should be considerable with new rads. I pulled the first one off last week. Inspected in 1972....

It's a better finish. I'm a carpenter and the difference is very noticeable.Tapered edge boards and just tape and fill, why do people skim plasterboard?

It is, plus you get a better paint finish. Believe it of not the plaster also helps with other things like structural integrity, sound proofing and insulation. A good plastering job vrs a good tape and filling job is far superior. It's just simple logic. Its not noticeable at all if its done right.
have you had this strategy assessed .. done some moisture analysis, such that it will not give any damp issues ? .. or, maybe, just a trial room initially.Yeah this, lose about 6cm off a couple of walls in each room but they all need decorating/plastering anyway.

- on daily cycle route , tiled house, had outer tiling removed and I assumed an external gapped battened insulation layer, and is now rendered.
It's interesting to see a fair few comments regarding people dropping "luxury" outgoings to accommodate the price rises. Obvious when you think about it, but it does highlight the hit that the wider economy will take i.e Sky, Netflix etc.
