I have a graphics card... now I need a PC!

I just wanted to say that I am in exactly the same situation as the OP-Chives and my 3090 FE arrives today. This has been an incredibly helpful thread. Chives you are a week or two ahead of me and I would be very grateful to hear how things worked out and what if anything you would change. Thanks again

All of that works. All I can think is the arctic rad is quite thick and can be tight at the top. put photo's of mine in so hopefully you can make out(changed lights to white to help)...anyway, shows plenty of space for the 3090. If you want to add more fans(I swapped all mine out, but present to myself so thought what the hell) the360mm elite although more expensive( £145 at mo does come with a commander core which allows you to plug 6 pwm and 6 rgb headers into it..( I ended up having to buy a commander pro for my aio, which negated some of the saving I made buying the XT Pro 2nd hand. Case comes with a core node anyway so if not adding any other fans will be ok...also having fans all same brand makes the icue software easier I'm guessing..I can control fans/ram/mobo and gpu from it
Need to double check as quite tight. Another forum member was saying was tight when they put arctic on roof in the 4000D case...they got it done so s/b ok...other option is get the arctic with rgb fans for £109 and just put on white light...there's a tint on the glass so need something so see all the bits(white case comes with clear glass)...I don't mind as if busy can turn all off and becomes a non discracting glasss case showing nothing

My pleasure...my build just officially became the mini me version:cry:. Could you put a pic of when built? Would like to see how the 3090Fe looks in the case compared to the 3080Fe I have. If I did my build again, would prob go pretty much the same, except am happy with my 3080Fe. Though next build I want to try a 011d evo case, or whichever they have when I upgrade, just for something different. If you get stuck, just give me a shout, or others, plenty of people willing to help. Just go slow removing side shroud. Once that's out goes a lot easier

How goes it? Got everything you need?

Apologies for the late reply, been swept up with work and a last minute trip abroad! parts all arrived and I built it under the watchful eye of my friend who showed me the ropes :)

System is running like a dream and seems very stable. The 3090 FE seems to run pretty hot (in the late 70s) and GPU memory seems to be even hotter. A read around here and google seems to suggest thats normal though?!

I haven't yet bought a windows licence key, so am essentially running it on the 'free' version of windows 11. This seems to exhibit some annoyances (namely it resets my monitor/display settings every time I boot, meaning I have to manually reenable my secondary monitor, OLED and change the audio output.

Could I use the windows 10 key from my previous system or would MS not like that?

I don't think I'd make any changes. Very very happy with how its all come together :) My only thought would be that the CPU cooler is a tight fit in the case as Craig mentioned earlier on. There were a couple of removeable trays / covers that we took out to make some more space too.

I have a few pictures that I'll dig out and post. Very pleased :D

Have good weekends all :)

Your win 10 key should work if retail version and you aren't using on another pc... If not, you can buy one cheap. Just Google it

You can find a lot of win10 keys for reasonable prices on Ebay, I've bought mine for less then $5

Yes managed to source one, thanks :)

I bump this thread as I installed a second SSD today (SN850, same as the one I originally had), and its causing problems unfortunately.

Windows does recognise the drive, so I initialised it and then the problems began. The drive disappears and then reappears after a reboot, any attempt to move / download files to the drive produces errors, and I can't even format it now without a series of errors saying the drive is in use / can't be recognised.

Any ideas? or have I got a faulty SSD.

Check for firmware updates for the drive and bios update for the motherboard.

SSD firmware is up to date. BIOS update worth a go? I've not done one before...
It is if your having problems but could well have a faulty drive, other option is to pull your main drive and try to install Windows on the new or try a diffrent m2 slot if Available.

Try diffrent slot first.

Understood - popped it in another slot (i've left the heatsink off for now for now whilst I test as its a pain removing it and reseating it). Seems okay so far - whats the best way of stress testing? i've downloaded a couple of steam games onto it and seems okay. Give it 24 hrs and see?

Cheers :)

If you've downloaded some games on it, just play some of those games...as you play, pc will be reading from drive as you load new area maps, or transfer/copy a game from one drive to another..game will be fairly large(don't need to do a massive one), so will soon know if you're copying 5gb or so if you have problems. Once copied, just delete the copy etc

Understood :) how long would you give it to be fairly sure the drive is okay? Don’t want to put a load of stuff on it for it to die in a few weeks!
