Hi guys Im looking for opinions on TV size in my living room. I play current gen consoles on it, but I'm say maybe 4.5m away and stuffs obviously a bit small (mainly an issue when aiming down sights at enemies in the distance). Does anyone sit a similar distance away and recommend a size, I've currently got a 60 but want to go bigger, as why not:p. I know its a real first world problem. Size wise I could fit a 77 in but that might cost half the house in a divorce:cry:.

I sit a similar distance away, and use a 65"; you could easily get away with the larger size, but I'd say keeping the other half happy is also worth something. A 65-70" might be a nice compromise; you get a bit more screen estate but its not so much bigger the mrs will want to murder you, a 77" would be noticeably larger compared to a 60, thats for sure, as you'd be talking roughly an extra 50cm diagonally.

I assume sitting closer temporarily is not an option/re-arranging furniture to sit closer.

Not that it matters, but the Series X and PS5 is current-gen. Is that what you meant, that the resolution's higher and therefore ADS looks further out?

I think I'm getting older / my eyes are getting worse, and chose to go the other way, and mostly game on a 27" gaming monitor and sitting closer instead on the series X I had on FPS titles :D I switch to TV for third person adventure games

Tbh it's always been a problem regardless of gen. Ideally I'd like 70 but that doesn't seem to be a common size. Can't move the sofa as then it would be in the middle of the room, living rooms are always a compromise.

It's currently on a stand which may limit things thinking about it. It's one of those stand that uses the visa mounts to hold it up, so assuming the mount would fit a bigger telly it shouldn't be an issue.

77 OLED, C1. You mentioned in other thread couple of grand, so assuming at least 2K, that gets close to the price the 77 C1 can be had for. Add in the fact arguably one of the best tv for gaming and makes it an easy choice for most the part. The small part would be if your tv gets bathed in direct sunlight most the time, but even then close some curtains slightly during those times etc.

Your stand if it’s one of those vesa stand then should be fine assuming it’s solid and goes up the the spacing requirements of the 77. Otherwise the base stand itself is quiet wide on the C1 and deep, but the mount should get rid of that.

Tbh I did have eye on the c1 77 inch. For reference here's a pic of my current setup. The 77 would be a couple of cm away from either speaker (note they are the same distance from the telly It's just that I'm sat to one side).

My only issue with thier oleds is the jnsitance of making the top so thin when bottom is already chunky, they just feel so frail.

Obvious thought would be a comfortable fold up chair, so you can sit closer when no one else is using the lounge; or maybe one of the extendable Cantilever wall mounts so you can move the TV around half a meter closer.

Just trying to think of ways you could make this easier without getting murdered. Maybe a combo of the above, and shift up to 65" just to get a slightly larger picture :)

Of course if the wife will accept 77" sobeit, but just trying to think of options for you!

move the sofa on your left to the wall on your right
move the tv to the window bay, angled at you
problem solved, no need to buy a tv
and you gained the far wall to use for something else

I should ban you for suggesting a tv in the window:cry:. I reckon 65 would be acceptable, I'd love a 70 but they don't seem very common.
