Russia flying a ton of stuff back and forth (not sure on specific direction of travel) from Kaliningrad today - don't like the look of that.

Neither does NATO from the looks of the Swedish air force ISR flight (EDIT: And a UK Rivet Joint).

Well they haven't done anything yet and that escalation is hardly likely, so there's little need to bother the public with such concerns. However I hardly think MI5/MI6/GCHQ are just twiddling their thumbs whilst the likes of the GRU or SVR are a potential threat.

He's lost the plot... Anyone that believes this will end at Ukraine is in for a rough time. This mess needs dealing with in another way now and I hope his people on the inside deal with him as this is going to end really bad for everyone including the people in his country, he will soon start doing public executions of his "scum and terrorists" as he puts it to scare the public from uprising against him.

Something is really off with him now and not his "normal" behaviour, anyways we will see and we will keep watching while this all gets worse and worse. The longer this runs the worse it is going to get to the rest of the world now and his sights are clearly not just on Ukraine.

India had a chance to stand up for what is right and NO ONE is looking at India for any kind of economic or cultural leadership and this issue has only hurt that cause.

and btw the UK is no more "failing" economically than our nearest European equivalents and Indians still scrabble to leave India not least for the UK with good reason. You clearly are also ignorant of the fact that India, with 16 times the population still has a smaller economy than the UK and can only dream of the UKs per capita wealth (which is what matters). When push comes to shove India still grapples with diseases the west left behind decades ago and can't stop it's citizens defacating in the street FFS.

Sorry if that offended - it is a view point from working closely and discussing outside of work when in Pune, Hyderabad and Delhi/UK-based friends. I am certainly not flippantly glossing over the mavity of issues, nor the problems (economic, class, political etc).

I certainly don't condone corruption. Period. I do have an issue with aspects of contrived processes that are simply there for process sake.

I feel this is emotive subject so I will leave it here.

That's the banning of a single source of media which is well known for its bias. They are not stopping any other sources reporting the Russian p.o.v. For example people on here who have a very strange take on reality.

UK hasn't had freedom of expression for years, just look at what happened to that guy who got his dog to do a Hitler salute. In my lifetime the UK will be the new Russia based on our current trajectory.

You'd think that it would at least be for the betterment of Russia but for the past twenty years he's done everything he could to destroy it's ability to function in a world that necessitates a knowledge-based economy, he knows Ukraine has a future in that regard and cannot allow it to pass.

Agree. Drinking way too much Putinade!

A young Russian work colleague of my wife, who comes from what appears a wealthy family in Moscow, had issues understanding people didn't have out of town houses and I won't even start with the tripe spouted about same-sex relationships. Even work colleagues questioned her grasp on reality.

If Russia take Ukrain and install a puppet government and keep troops their as "peace keepers" the sanctions will never be lifted, they won't be in a position to take anywhere else.

Yep - Ukraine produces a large about of Africa's cereals and 1/3 of China's food stuffs for animals bound for it's population's plates. It's a point I raised earlier in the thread.

What will be interesting is if China secure cereals from Russia and provide to Africa as part of its belt and road framework.
