This thread doesn't need me chipping in with a "it's a pretty darned excellent speech!" but I found it genuinely moving. No doubt the FSB bots will consider it great acting, but let's face it, Arnie was never a great actor, just a great onscreen presence. So I'm putting myself in the impressed column.

Whether it will change a single Russian's stance is a different matter, but there's definitely no harm trying anything before Putin ramps things up.

And if it hadn’t been for one Russian Lieutenant Colonel being smart enough to figure out that the missile launch detection alarm that went off was an equipment malfunction on the 26th of September that year, we might have seen what a Soviet first strike looked like on the receiving end.
