Mine has arrived, currently copying Horizon 2 off the disc. I’m positive I could download it faster!

Is there a way to test the HDMI cable? The included on is too short so I’ve replaced, all seems to be fine and HDR comes on, so presume that’s it?

Thats a good question actually. I have a 120Hz 4k TV and would like to know if the HDMI cable supports the standard for this.

I just made sure to buy a certified cable with the QR code that is checked via the HDMI checker app. There’s plenty of cheap ones on Amazon, around a tender for a 2 meter cable.

Amazon are now doing a "Basics" HDMI cable which is Premium Certified (envelope with the QR code to scan etc).
2m around £7.

Folks my PS5 just updated but now it seems I cant access any of the modes like Vivid or standard on my Sony bravia TV, theyre all greyed out.
Only when I changed the HDMI from "Enhanced" to "Standard" does it release those settings....

It definitely wasnt like that before...

Any thoughts?

Must be picking the gaming mode on the TV and letting that choose the settings.

That's clever. I dread to think how many people are still using factory settings on their TVs with all the motion/contrast etc enhancement features turned on.

*shudders*

But.. I like those :\

So let me get this straight, if I understood you correctly folks...
My current Bravia has HDMI Standard, Enhanced and Enhanced VRR. When I select either Enhanced mode, my screen defaults to Auto picture mode... but on standard HDMI it does not.....

So confusing :\

But they introduce input lag and insert frames where they don't belong (so to speak). Gaming mode is the equivalent of turning off EQ, Bass Boost AX+++ Turbo etc on an audio player, you're getting something far closer to what the creators actually intended.

The specific settings you describe will depend on your TV model, but VRR isn't enabled on the PS5 (yet) so there's no point using that one. Not being familiar with the current round of Sony TVs, I'd assume Enhanced needs to be on for HDR etc to be enabled.

Im with you, but for example Im playing GT7 and Im not too fussed about frame drops etc.
Also Game mode looks dull and washed out.. what is with that? Is there anyway to bring it back to the same colours/contrast as Standard?

Currently I have for HDMI signal format:

"Standard format"
"Enhanced format"
"Enhanced format (VRR)"

When I select EITHER Enhanced formats it auto selects Game mode....
but bizzarly it doesnt for Standrd.

I'm not sure but standard is generally HDMI 1.4 and I think ALLM needs HDMI 2.0. But who knows, I might be totally off course.

Will PS5 VR, the one scheduled to come out next year need 2.1 HDMI? My Samsung tops out at 2.0, 60hz, 1500nits. I just expected 30fps 4K for all games by default.
