Ukraine Invasion - Please do not post videos showing attacks/similar

That is an outrageously high failure rate. What's the deal here? Has Russia simply not bothered to maintain her weapons systems?

Probably some of that, partly as a result of lots of corruption/dysfunctional leadership within their military - same reason why the troops in Ukraine have out of date rations when new military rations (which aren't really available for general sale) can be purchased on the Russian version of ebay!

Another factor is that their modernisation program has been undermined post-2014 by sanctions, they couldn't get the chips etc.. for new weapons. Of course our friends in France and Germany did carry on with some defence-related exports, Russian pilots have had some nice upgrades in recent years thanks to that. German companies even helped train Russian special forces, yet they were against supplying weapons to Ukraine pre-invasion and blocked some other EU Blatic partners from doing so too.

That's interesting, hopefully, there are some wider effects from that too! :)

Have to wonder what condition their mainstay reserves are in as well.

EDIT: That is the mainstay reserve stock of the 4th Guards actually they are commenting on - so yeah never mind the mothballed stock that is the state of their reserves.

FML, that's hilarious! :D

They're literally their own worst enemy, the population all stressing out over sanctions, Russians trapped overseas etc.. and various aspects of it just falling apart because of their own corruption.

So there seems to be a video going round of allegedly Ukrainian soldiers shooting Russian prisoners of war in the legs

The Ukrainian government needs to address this quickly. If it's legit, then they need to prosecute the offending soldiers. Their success is highly dependent on how the world perceives their efforts. This sort of thing discourages world support and discourages the enemy's surrender.

Worse thing that can start wont be good for Ukranian POW.

Yeah, and it will make the Russians fight to the death rather than surrender.
It could well be Russian propaganda though, there's so much coming from both sides now you don't know what to believe.

For sure, it needs verifying first though really, it's not out of the realms of possibility that it's actually Russians dressed as Ukrainians who have dressed their Ukrainian prisoners as Russians and then shot their legs, but it's also believable that some Ukrainians would do this to Russians given everything Russia has done and the fact that even on the "good" side there will be bad apples

Or that the Russians asked to be shot in the leg to avoid punishment etc when if they go home.

Going by one of the articles on the BBC the Russians appear to be executing captured Ukrainian soldiers, though that was just the account of one elderly lady. If that's generally the case then I can easily see why some Ukrainian units may lose patience with more immediate issues to deal with.

Regardless there's simply no way to know either way considering the similarities between the two sides along with the immense amount of disinformation around.

You see, this is why I believe that the majority of Putin's nukes are filled with used pinball machine parts where the fissile material should be.

does north, south, east Ukraine have any resourses that Russia needs?
The combined agricultural might of Russia and Ukraine, and it's huge impact on global wheat prices alone, makes this a power play for the future as carbon fuels decline. It's got to be part of the long term plan.
