OcUK RTX3090TI review thread

Seems like a very pointless release given 40xx series is right around the corner where a 4070 is going to spank the 3090/3090ti and then some.
I'm pretty certain they are doing this this to raise the MSRP of the top level card before the 4000 series is released.
The hope being that when the 4000 series rolls in either the 4090 will look like a bargain because it costs less than the 3090ti (but more than the 3090) or they will bump up the price and say look you get more performance.

Hopefully reviewers catch this.

Yeah I agree, we'll probably see the 4090 drop in at £1600 MSRP and be 50% faster so people will think thats an absolute bargain.

Just in time for April fools :D. This card is an absolute joke from nvidia and I'm a 3090 owner. Price, power and performance increase is just ridiculous over the regular 3090 for what a few handful of frames

If nvidia or even AMD for that matter keep these insane GPU prices going it's only going to drive more to consoles. I'm also a series x owner and honestly I've been playing that more, damn close visuals if your not pixel peeping, less power consumption, less heat, so quiet at full load I need to put my ear next to it to hear it and significantly cheaper.

As just a pc gamer for 20yrs I'm really worried about the future of where pc gaming is heading. With the prices now it's just not worth it.
The trouble is that in buying cards like the 3090 your sending the message to nvidia that the prices are fine so it's no supprise we got this card but yeah if it carries on like this for a few more years then I think consoles will be the way forward.

and only 700w card power
I imagine it will be around 450w on the standard models, sansung 8nm to TSMC 5nm is already an improvement of like +50% performance per watt so unless the next gen cards are going to see a double the usual gen on gen performance increase I can't 700w on anything but a handful of silly AIB OC models.

The ti just seems to be a half baked attempt to throw as much voltage as the core can take at it to eek a few extra mhz out if it to reclaim some mythical crown.

The big gimmick for the cooler on the 3090 was nvidia calling it the "silencer", now after lobbing more voltage at the core it seems that's being overwhelmed in some tests and ramps way up.

The only good thing I can take away is the review on the EVGA FTW3 card
It's a massive cooler and it has alleviated some gear about RTX4000 cooling

Despite it being a 500w GPU, the larger heatsink is doing a good job with reviews showing temps in the mid 60s

And needing 1kw psu for the whole system....

Agreed, it's flipping massive but does a good job cooling the card, same with the Gainward one according to HWU. As someone said before it seems a good test run for PCBs and power phases if rumours regarding the power draw of the next gen are true.

Ridiculous cards though, and not in a good way.

If there's any gpu where it would be worth buying an AIO cooled version to vent heat outside the case then surely the 3090Ti must be it.

If I was in the market for one (which I'm absolutely not!) I'd be going for one like the Gigabyte waterforce one with a 360mm rad: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...dr6x-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-1fa-gi.html
Might be £250 more than the cheapest models, but at this end of the market it's not such a big deal, and the advantage of not cooking your entire system with a 500W heater would be a pretty big one imo.

(or a pre water-blocked one if I had a custom loop).
