Help finding cheapest mortgage rate?

Any sites you recommend or even a broker?

We need to take out a mortgage and not to sure the best way to find the best rate etc

Thanks :)

Comparison sites and broker.
Comparison sites have been better for me personally.

Moneysupermarket had all the best ones.

I've just used Trussle and it was a very quick and seemless experience. Can get a £150 voucher going through a MSE link too :)

I tried Trussle, Mojo and London and Country incase they differed, but all came back with the same product. So i went with the one with the best signup offer.

Comparison sites and a spreadsheet have always served me well, and 9 times out of ten it's always been Post Office(Bank of Ireland) that's been the best.

I'm out of date at the moment but a few years ago the best thing to do was to check the obvious comparison sites, check with a broker and then also check HSBC & First Direct as, IIRC, brokers didn't tend to deal with them.

Often HSBC or First Direct had very good prices, broker isn't necessarily going to get you anything better than comparison sites unless you're in a specific situation where some mortgages are hard to get and you need specialist advice... but it's worth a look just in case they do find a good deal.

Habito are worth a look, after you check comparison sites. I used them earlier this year as they matched the best rate but figured it would be handy to have someone do some of the donkey work. My girlfriend used them before and they matched the best rate she found but gave her some cash back.
If you don’t know, they are just an online broker.

Yep, comparison site + try a broker. For me, L&C have usually been able to get a slightly (0.1% or so) better rate than the comparison sites. For house value, Zoopla midpoint will be about right.

I used zoopla sold prices.
But mine was waaay out vs the bank.

I suspect the bank was under and zoopla was over.

Zoopla is generally decent for anything uniform. Ours is awkward as there's literally nothing like ours in the local area as it's an old ~150yr old Gatehouse in an area of mainly terraces and 70's style bungalows!

I don't know if i went under/over but once you're under the 70% mark i don't think it matters too much. Bizarely Coventry just agreed to my valuation even though it's £30k over the Zoopla estimate!

I have to say I was surprised.
Lloyd's only put our house 10 percent over the jan 2020 price.
And this is South Wales.
If they didn't street view or look at the house that might explain it. It's garden is 4-5x bigger than the typical and it's 'detached' by about 20+ metres. Not the usual few foot like others in the area.

I was expecting a ~67 LTV. But the value from Lloyd's was ~72. Fortunately the banding is the same
