980 Pro SSD owners?

Hello folks

So, 980 Pro owners... Just wondering what your average writes to SSD are over a typical day?

After I built and turned on my new PC I tore through around 1TB in just a couple of days!
Now with just general usage I seem to write around 35GB per day. Edge and Chrome are the main culprits now it seems, even though I don't spend hours on youtube. I don't have Shadowplay or anything like that.

I just want to know if other 980 Pro users are seeing roughly the same write amounts?

A bit of research has persuaded me not to panic - my SSD will be fine. But I'm still curious if this behaviour is normal or if something is doing something it shouldn't.

Thanks

It's normal everything you or the PC does will increase your usage. The drives are rated for more usage then anyone will generally hit.

Hello Glanza, thanks for the response.
Yeah, I know the TBW rating means even at this write-rate I'll never hit the limit, but I still want to know if 30-40GB written a day is typical usage. It just seems a bit excessive!
I'm just curious if other 980 Pro users are noticing the same thing.

Thanks

It is hard to define 'typical', but in the region of 5-10 GB is pretty normal for the average desktop PC. 30-40 GB is on the high side, but not unreasonable. I'd take a closer look at your usage, particularly the websites you are visiting. If you want to get that off the SSD, you could set up a RAM cache. What I do, is have the browser save everything (user profiles, cache) to a second SSD, which takes the brunt of the workload.

Yes, I guess I was trying to get an idea of 'typical' by comparing with other 980 Pro owners.
Are there any out there?
I do have another smaller SSD rattling around. If I install it, how would I then go about getting the browser to use that for all it's writing busy-ness?

Thanks

I used the method where you edit the Chrome shortcut to change the user directory, if I remember correctly, I did this (but I think if you change directory in this way, you lose everything, or more specifically: it leaves the old user stuff in place and creates a completely new directory):

you can change the Chrome Folder by adding this command in the shortcut to chrome:

--user-data-dir=D:\ChromeFiles

total shortcut will be then:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --user-data-dir=D:\ChromeFiles
