• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.

3060 or 6600xt

always think it depends what you play too, 6600xt looks better but if you want to play rdr2/cp2077/hzd they have dlss for extra performance not shown on that chart

But the rx6600xt can RSR and FSR to claw back a fair bit of game performance (game dependant of course)

Yes sorry, I was being all YOLO with the kids. 1080p you should be OK actually, but like my previous stance when I seen people recommending the 2060 in the Turing era, (it has been the entry desktop sku for the line-up with no FE edition) you would be being rather optimistic when jacking up the RT on this.

Really.... Maybe leave giving people advice on stuff like this to more clued up members. Surprised you aren't recommending a 3090 just to be on the safe side for 1080P

A 3060 will easily beat a 6600/6600xt when it comes to anything RT right up to 1440p.

Also, another thing worth keeping in mind OP is dlss, not that you would really want to be using it at 1080P but it is far better than using FSR1/RSR, they are only good with 4k and using UQ preset. FSR 2 should be better though but again, based on the comparisons to TAAU and TSR (which fsr 2 will be based on one of them), dlss is still probably going to lead the way here, not to mention you get the best of all upscaling tech.

Look at the games you play and see if they have dlss or/and use RT (and decide if you care about that) then decide from there, if you don't care for dlss or/and RT then go 6600xt.

The easiest way to check how near you are to capping the performance of the gpu at 100% is to open the performance overlay that comes with the radeon software when running games. The top figure shows fps but the second figure shows percentage of the GPU being used. If you use settings such as Radeon chill to reduce fps then obvious it can sit at well under 100% but if use settings to maximise fps in a demanding game the overlay will show how close or not you are getting to use the gpu in the high 90%s. Control, shift & O opens the overlay for me but I cannot remember if that is because I remapped it or not
