This morning got to the end of my street turned into the road and heard a big clunk.

Lost all drive, gearbox goes through all gears fine.

Also have a rattling sound coming from the gearbox.

Car has been recovered and is currently at a garage. for months now when i set off i got what i can only describe as a squeel during first gear acceleration, my thoughts were it was most likely the clutch bearing that has disentegrated and now no longer engaging the clutch?

Any one had anything similar to this before?

Do you guys think it will be the clutch?

Ballpark figure if it is clutch for replacement?

If you're lucky it's the shift linkages. Otherwise, if they're doing the release bearing you might as well get the clutch done assuming it's never been done before.

120k and its never been done before, either way if the gearbox is coming off then i will be having a new clutch put on since it would be a waste not to while its off

Looked on ebay for a used one?
Yep, called about 20 breakers and no one has any. All pretty much told me the same thing, you wont get one unless you are extremely lucky.

Looks like i might have to buy a new car because of a drive shaft... :(

Its my only car and delivery of a new one will be 20days... And £1k +

Feel so annoyed :(

Feel like my only option is to buy a new car, store this one in garage wait for a drive shaft to come available and then fit and sell the CRZ.

Drivers side drive shaft for a 1.5 CRZ?

Several left and right driveshafts for sale too, what plate is the car 2011 / 2012 or newer?

that shaft is something to do with the integrated motor or charge system. Not the actual drive shaft that turns the driving wheel

My car is a 2012, the ones that are available are from japan and are plus postage + import duties + weeks delivery wait.

20days + around £1500 apparently. Car is worth £4k? and as i said, i dont have another car to get to work for 20 days :(

Ouch. There's a lack of decent options, especially with anything with an MOT and functional being worth more than is sensible in the current state of the world.

Maybe worth asking the owners club if there's an enterprising engineering company they know of who can repair the existing driveshaft? Quick google suggests there's a been a few cases of corrosion issue with the shaft itself.

Its the intermediate shaft so that hub bolts to the back of the block and means you have equal length and common part shafts. So it does drive the wheels, just not the halfshaft thats snapped.

Couple of once to consider - do not consider a recommendation from me :)

Seems difficult to find alternatives - Lings parts catalogue is down at the moment and Amayama dont list the CRZ (although its similar to the Gen2 Insight)

Both of those are passenger sides, i need the drivers side.

Seems there are plenty of passenger ones, i guess they dont go nearly as often as the drivers ones

Yea i can get a Honda one in around 20days, but it is between £1200-£1500.

Managed to find an american site last night and got one ordered, should be here by Tuesday apparently.
