The goto second hand car sites?

I'm thinking about importing something like a Renault Clio 16v (phase 1/2 so 1990 to 1997 ish I guess) from the UK or Europe at large to the USA. What are the goto sites these days for used cars?

Somewhat laughing at myself with the prices of older clios (5k+) given they were about 1.5k back when I bought one many years ago. But anyway.

I'm asking as the common sites like autotrader might not get listings for older cars, or be the common place anymore.

I used to have a valver - I paid £900 for it lol - I loved every square inch of that thing.

Pretty sure the guy who I sold it to drive it into a tree.

Piston heads.. forgot about that. Thanks!

I wasn't sure if most people had gone to things like FB Marketplace etc. I think it's a little trickier when I'm trying to buy things remotely lol.

Only thing about the 16v I found was the clutch was super heavy, unnecessarily so. I actually got a painful hip from it. I'd be looking to add the megan lever if I end up managing to import one that doesn't break the bank. Car prices are really weird these days. The reason for importing is that it is just so different over here. I will have to be smart and try to include an extra windscreen with it.

If you’re going to take it to the US, buying a left hand drive from the Eu would initially seem a little more sensible. My guess is quite possibly cheaper too.

Another point for investigation is the export rules. Are they now different post Brexit? I’ve no idea, but it’s quite possible that it’s easier and cheaper at one or the other

I really don't know. It's early days, and I'm sure I'll get stung in some way from the experience. I will have to check both UK and EU. I feel more comfortable dealing with a UK sale, and getting it safely exported, but it sure would make it easier if it was left hand drive, with the lights being already done etc.

Not many left of the 16v or Williams, making it much harder to find one outside of the specialist car clubs and groups, especially since these are going to be pretty much enthusiast run cars now.

If it must be Renault, you would find a Renaultsport clio 172/182/197 etc inc the cup/trophy versions more easily.

Appreciating the nostalgia, the challenge of finding a decent 16v and running/maintaining it in a non domestic market is less appealing.

I haven't seen a Clio 16v/Williams on the road for a long time (last was a Williams when a local car festival type event was on). A fair few nicely restored 205gti about though on my travels (about 13x as many left as the Clio 16v so makes sense).

I'd probably try Car & Classic for that kind of search.

C&C tends to be up together examples, compared to ebay etc.

16v here @ £6k

Williams @£15k here (the other Williams is £30k)

I had a look at the 205 GTIs and wow prices on the good ones going up again.
