As title will a 3070 be ok on a corsair 650w psu?
yes it's fine 3070's dont use that much power especially if you undervolt it you can shave +50watts power consumption and the card runs cooler with better fps. For example at the moment I'm playing elder scrolls online its only using 62 watts at 4k. If I play a new triple A game like bf2042 it uses around 200w
Are these transient spikes an Nvidia thing or is this just GPUs in general?Average yes - but they can draw transient spikes much higher than was generally the case with GPUs in the past - I'm not sure on the exact details as the power monitor on my system only updates at 2Hz so doesn't capture such a short lived event accurately but my 3070 can create some fairly big spikes. Shouldn't be a problem on most systems if you have a quality 600+Watt PSU (nVidia recommends 650Watt but that will probably be with some tolerance for people running all kinds of rubbish) and aren't pushing it too hard with additional hardware.

Wise man , I do the same. This is why I recommend at least a 750w psu for any new gaming build. Even if it's a budget system with a GTX 1660 etc. It avoids PSU worrys several years down the line if you want to do a huge GPU upgrade.
**** me dude STOP CHANGING YOUR MIND!!!!Just to update i got the 3070ti.
Haha, well i did have a 6500XT. Sold some of my model railway stuff and got a 3060. Even then i was in 2 minds over a 3070. Then i saw a 3070ti on marketplace and he offered me a goods deal on my 3060 so the 3070ti only cost me an additional £300.**** me dude STOP CHANGING YOUR MIND!!!!
Glad it's working for you but **** me man you change your ****ing **** more than me!
