So my pc died a couple of years ago, and since then i was lucky enough to get a ps5 on launch day and have thouroughly enjoyed playing that, however lately i've been getting an itch where i miss playing WoW, LoL, DoW, civ and other games i used to love on PC.
I'm not looking for something high end, as the high end game i want to play (MSFS), is something i might buy an xbox for.
I understand video cards are coming down now, but i've also been thinking of laptops, and/or something i could connect to the large tv in the living room so i can play with my keyboard and mouse on my sofa/coffee table.
Are laptops good value for performance? how much today would an ideal build be for me? i prefer to spend less, but dont want a toaster, shadowlands pref. med-high settings.
Basically I don't know the current standards of PC's and am looking for what would be ideal for me.

I may of rambled a bit.

The PC equivalent of a PS5 or Xbox series X would cost you quite a lot to build (at least around £300 on graphics card and £170 on CPU, alone), but you can match a series S more easily. Unless you're desperate to play those games, I don't think I'd bother.

The more affordable option might be to go second hand, since you can play most esports games and MMOs on much lower-end hardware. I'm thinking of e.g. a Ryzen 5 3600 or 2600 (< £100), B450 motherboard and GTX 1060 or RX 470/570 (< £100).

What resolution is your TV, and what size/resolution of monitor were you hoping to buy please?

It's a 65" 4k oled LG C1, i also have a 1920x1080 monitor.

That linked build helped me a little, i'm happy to spend £800, however i have a 550 psu in my old build that still works along with a ssd and HDD, i also don't need to buy a monitor, and have 2x4gb memory ddr3 (i don't know if that's outdated) which should hopefully save me some money. I should've mentioned that sooner, however i only remembered when reading the build.

Do you have a case that you'd like to reuse, or you want a smaller case to make it portable?

Ever considered could gaming? A while ago I had a demo of GeForce Now on my Shield TV and it seemed to work well. I guess the downside is that I think each platform has limited content, much like if we want all video content we need to sign up to Netflix, Amazon, Apple, Disney etc etc.
