I'd side with this. The M135i is by far the most entertaining. I had an A45 for 3 months and the best feature was the panoramic roof. The posterchild for point and squirt modern car syndrome.

Well if you put three understeering, fat, over-assisted bags of manure up against each other and mull it over there's not necessarily going to be a clear winner. There will be a cheaper one, though.

Really depends what you want out of a car. I’d rather save my money on a daily driver. These hatches are too much of a half way house. What about an M2?

Have also been reading about the Mini Clubman JCW which has the same engine as the M135i. Is this where the similarities end? People thoughts.

Still hooked on an AMG A35 but prices are remaking firm above £30k currently so will definitely be considering something under budget

M2 is a good shout. I’d want the Competition spec though for the better engine. Not sure if it would be in budget.

No chance you will get a Comp for <£30k, you may just squeeze into a non-comp at this budget - non AUC

The mk8 golf r would also be worth test driving as it’s essentially the same as the s3 only with a more advanced 4wd system. I think the s3 is a nicer looking car though both inside and out.
