RX 6700 - potential sub $500 king?

Sapphire Pulse 6700XT is already £479, that's the XT version.

This new 6700 needs to be £400
 
great mid-range card for those on PCIe 3.0 systems, given that the 66x0 series are PCIe 8x rather than 16x.

also has more memory, more bandwidth, and three times the infinity cache of the 66x0 cards.
 
AMD Pricing needs a re-jigging, I'd like to see AMD re-position the stack to be as follows:

6500 XT @ £149
6600 @ £279
6600 XT @ £329
6650 XT @ £349
6700 @ £399
6700 XT @ £429
6750 XT @ £479
6800 @ £529
6800 XT @ £599
6900 XT @ £799
6950 XT @ £899

What I am pushing for, got reasonably close with some SKU's with the 6900 XT at £899 and 6700 XT at £469 and 6600 at £289, but always pushing for better. Hopefully AMD and their board partners can get closer to my targets or hit them in the very near future, I will never give up pushing. :)

Not with their RT performance.
I will start caring about RT the moment something that supports RT becomes Steam's top card.
While I don't deny the appeal of such a feature, it's still early times and TBF I'd value more voxel aceleration (which has the potential of providing much richer gameplay and ironically is held back by lack of GPU support) than ray tracing.

Oh yes that tech used in a game back in the 90's.

Voxel-based games have one distinctive advantage over traditional rendering: Extreme flexibility and potential for far more interactive environments than anything polygon-based.

Minecraft and teardown are the best examples of that, only they suffer from extreme chunkiness which could be improved with higher voxel resolution.

I agree with you but is limited as complex detail will be missing versus polygonal rendering and the inability to do complex animation, so games will be limited to things like Minecraft where animation is not really a priority.

RT vs Voxel, RT can be applied to anything given the patience to code it in.

Detail can be arbitrarily fine, as well as animations. Hope you realize voxels are created and animated from 3d models, with the only disadvantage being that animations are usually pre-baked.

The RTX 2000 series isn't all that much better than the RX 6000 series in RT performance. 6700xt for instance is pretty close to the 2070
6700 XT blows the doors off a 2070 in raster enough for me to say don't buy it, a used 2070s vs a new 6600 - 6700 now that's compelling.
Even 2080 Super are now below £400.
