So an odd turn of events.
A week or so ago I had a letter turn up addressed to someone we had never heard of. It looked official, government type letter, you know like the DVLA / tax office issue.
We wrote not at this address on it return to sender and put it by the door to post, but forgot.
Monday two more letters turn up, different looking, but for same person.
We were 99% sure this person had never lived at our address and if they had it was >10 years ago, and would have been a fairly short window since house is less than 20 years old, and was owned by the original owner until we bought it. But the owner did let it out for some period up until we bought it.
These two letters looked more like dartford charges, so I went bugger it and opened one. Seeing as they were clearly identical I was going to only post 1 back anyways. Naughty I know, but this was suspicious.
The letter was in fact a penalty charge, but for an overstay in a motorway carpark.
Now a week ago a tatty old van with a tatty old caravan landed near me. It was notable as one of my mates was visiting and he laughed about getting ***** neighbours!
This van matches the reg from the letter! (The caravan has a different reg and its not a proper plate)
So at this point I am ok I am opening the brown env as well. Lo and behold its a V5 registering the van to my address, which makes sense why now I received 2x penalty letters (assuming 2, only opened one)
So I have returned the DVLA V5 with a note to say sorry opened by mistake
and that the van is parked there but its not owned by anyone we know so should not be registered to my address.
I have also sent the letter back to the penalty company (parking eye) to say not at this address, they clearly just got the address from DVLA.
So what am I missing, why would someone drive a not inconsiderable distance and register this van to my address.
Its also interesting if you google the name, wont post it here, someone with a matching name has been a naughty boy.
Should I also contact local police. We are curious as to if there is potentially stuff inside that they may want to know about.
Thoughts?
