My 6800xt has been shipped

:D I'm so excited. Ordered on Saturday with DPD next day delivery and just got the email saying shipped. What chance I might get it today if I'm only 25 miles away?....
That's going to be nice and fast for you. I'd have bought one if they weren't what I consider a ludicrous price! I hope both manufacturers do better with their pricing next time.

@Mr Wurley - which model did you go for? I've had my Gigabyte Gaming one for a couple of weeks and couldn't be happier with it (bar a couple of tiny quirks on my setup that were easily worked around).

I went for the gigabyte OC 16gb 6800 xt. I was toying with the 6700 xt as I play at 1440p but I thought, the hell with it, I’ll be dead in 50 years and i doubt I’d be on my death bed saying “thank god I saved that extra money on a 6800xt”.

Coming down almost daily now. I'm interested but still a little pricey however I'll hold for now and await a decent deal on a 6700 XT or 3070.

Waiting for the new cards and the older cards to get further discounted can be a mistake, as most of the older cards while getting cheaper will be sold, and if the new cards come in at premium prices which i expect they will as the stock level wont be high, a choice of the older cards will be slim as retailers want rid
of stock levels to make way for the next gen. very hard for retailers to hold both generations of top tier cards when a 7700XT could equal a 6800xt or 6900xt with lower power required and added features. with the ever increasing cost of living i would think retailer's wont want to hold to much stock of the new gen either.

Lots of ifs ;) Timing is everything, you'll see the price drops once the new cards are announced. There is always a window between there and launch to buy the last gen. Not a chance I'm buying at MSRP or above right now.

Timing is always key as long as you get the card and brand you wanted, if it goes out of stock waiting for the last bit of discount then its your choice or another brand that you can find in stock. I purchased a gigabyte 6900XT for £880 new, not because it was the best 6900XT card out there, Still a good card but it fitted in my Mac pro 7.1
at a massive discount over the apple version. I considered the fact that i wanted new and it must fit inside the 7.1 mac pro. its one of the shortest 6900XT cards. It might well drop to £799 but i might also miss out on the brand i wanted. always a gamble waiting, but each to there own as always.
